I am a green card holder. I want to drive to Canada and Mexico. Do I need to get visa?
Answer:
Your Green card is no more green,
it lost its color and faded to dull white isn't ?
When it was green in color it was respected world wide
and in many countries you would have attracted celebrity
girls too. Not any more. Its difficult to keep count of the
GCs. If people can make fake currency bill they can
make fake GCs too.
To visit Canada and Mexico you have to carry your passport too.
greencard from where? You may need a passport from your native country.
A green card simply allows you back into the USA. You still need a passport and visa to visit another country.
u will need a passport
It probably depends on the laws about the country your passport is from in relation to those countries requiring a passport.
Yes for sure get a passport
It all depends what country your passport was issued. You shouldn't have any problems, but you should always contact your consulate or embassy. Good luck.
I believe you don't need one for Canada, but bring your passport and green card. I'm not sure about Mexico, but I can't imagine it being hard to get into that place. Call the embassies to make sure. Check with your car insurance company before driving in other countries... You might need Mexican car insurance to drive there... I think in Canada you'll probably still be covered
YYYEEESSS! && DEFiNETELY MAKE SURE B0TH ARE RENEWED. Mi AUNT`S C0-W0RKER iS FR0M ASiA && HER NEW HUSBAND WENT T0 CANADA 3 M0NTHS AG0. SHE DiDN`T HAVE HER ViSA RENEWED S0 SHE iS STiLL THERE...PLEASE GET 0NE!
Nope, just your passport. Visas for those countries are issued at the point of entry.
It depends which your country of origin is and where your passport is from.
The greencard allows you to enter and live in the US but you're not a US citizen. You're still a citizen of the country where you were born.
Check what countries require citizens from your country to get a visa
Definetely cause you are going to a different country, and they do have requirements, rules and regulations, as well as they have it here.
You dont need a visa since you have a legal permanent card. Since you are driving you dont need a passport. The passport rule is only when you are traveling by air until 2008. Take a driver license with you and your green card.
New Passport Requirements: The Basics
The requirement for travelers to present a passport to enter the United States when arriving by air from any part of the Western Hemisphere took effect on January 23, 2007. This means that all persons -- including U.S. citizens -- traveling by air to the U.S. from destinations such as Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean must have a valid passport to enter the U.S.
Timeline for New Passport Requirements
The new passport requirements will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will apply only to air travel. The second phase will increase the scope of the new passport requirements to include land and sea travel:
Phase 1 - JANUARY 23, 2007: Passport requirement applies to all air travel to the U.S. from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. The only air travelers who will be exempted from the new passport requirements are those traveling with a Merchant Mariner's Document or NEXUS Air card.
Phase 2 - As early as January 1, 2008: All persons -- including U.S. citizens -- traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. This page will be updated as more information becomes available.
Bring your passport when entering Canada. The border guards can cause a real hassle for you if you don't have it. And your green card for the US is worthless in Canada.
And if you don't speak French, don't enter Canada through Quebec because even though the guards are bilingual they'll still make it hard for you if you don't speak French and are foreign. They're nice that way.
