Would you consider this an amnesty?

You break into a Best Buy store that is closed for the night. You unload all of the merchandise, truckload after truckload, until the store is cleaned out. You are later caught. You are told to pay a fine of $5, after which you are scot free.

Using the logic of the left, this would not be an amnesty since you are paying a fine. Do you agree?

Answer:
Dude..the left has NO logic.
I don't think it is an equal metaphor. Keep trying.
Yes, that would be amnesty.
Totally unrelated.
right...
Yep, that is amnesty.
A more apt comparison;

You sneak into the country to work on a farm. You break no laws while you are in the United States, learn the language, and spend 8 to 10 hours a day working for less than minimum wage. The police find out you are an undocumented worker and offer you a chance to become a citizen, provided you can pay over 5000 dollars in fines and provided to break no other laws while in the United States.

Personally, I have no problem with giving amnesty to someone like this. People like you, on the other hand, don't deserve to call themselves American.
Technically they are right. It would not be amnesty , it would be preferential treatment.
yes, the punishment didnt fit the crime...now If I did that, they would throw my sorry american citizen butt in jail and throw away the key...
Nice Strawman !
First off, it is not realistic. No judge in his/her right mind would ask the defendant in this case to pay $5 let alone $5,000 and go free. He would in fact do jail time, especially for cleaning out a Best Buy. Nice try though.
I feel bad for ppl like you b/c you'll never understand
Hell No! I don't know where 13ubbathedog is from, with "if YOU sneak into a country" and "give amnesty to SOMEONE like this"... We're not dealing with one person here!We're dealing with MILLIONS, who have "snuck' over here!! My husband used to work in restaurants, as a dishwasher, until he was (as were the rest of the kitchen help where he worked at the time) ALL "laid off", and replaced by these undocumented, illegally here, "latinos", all, oh!,so, willing to work, litterely replacing all the other American janitors, kitchen help, hotel workers etc. Who do you think did this type of labor before they showed up? The jobs that they all claim "no Americans want", before they came here?And when your so willing to work for so much less, who do you think these companies are going to hire? Many American men lost low labor (blue collar) jobs back then, and many became what turned into the homeless population we have now.I live in a big city, and I saw this "problem" unravel before my eyes..and the next thing I knew, I was hearing, that these are the jobs no Americans want! Trust me, they wanted their jobs back, but it was too late, we'd been sold out.by our own American BIG BUSINESS, who then, thought the same way you do, and who are paying for it now, having to replace these workers with people who are citizens here.So, I say this, if you want to come here and live here, fine, but do it honestly and follow our laws, just as you would have to if you were going to any other country to live.Other countries have borders too, you know, and I'll bet they wouldn't allow anyone to get away with this form of "squatting" (to settle on land without right or title) like this, as we have here, for too long now. It's time to pay the piper.
