I'm a Bush supporter in a lot of ways but not on immigration. I understand a guest worker program but not amnesty! "Illiterate"? A Harvard Grad is hardly that!
You are the most uniformed person alive you know that? How is it amnesty when they have to PAY A FINE OF $5,000, touchback, and learn english and pass a background check. Also, they are going to be put BEHIND the lawful applicants. Jesus, learn the facts dont spread lies.
Because people don't like the sound of amnesty. They don't like to think that these law breakers are going to get off for what they've done. Like it or not, though, even if no bill passes addressing this issue, a large majority of these illegals will not face punishment for what they've done. Sounds like amnesty to me. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

What do you want the guy to do in reality? The democrats in Congress are not going to approve any bill that does not include amnesty for those already here. They made that plain. The alternative would be for absolutely nothing to be done about illegal immigration at all. He is trying to compromise on the issue of those already here so we can deal with how to stop the influx of illegals in the future. He knows his supporters do not want this bill, but really, the guy gets jumped on from all sides no matter what. When he said he would not sign a bill which included amnesty not too long ago, oh how terrible he was, now he is willing to compromise, and the other side jumps on him. How about we try to give the guy a little credit.
