I know Why. For decades THe medical industry has been superficially keeping their stafffs ages low by importing immigrants to do the work, even though they know they are inferior to Americans. They sometimes buy their college degree, and even if they actually go to college most of the colleges they hire from lack some sort of accreditation to ensure quality of the education. SOme of these nations have organizations that helps them cheat on our boards exam. Philipine was caught this year and there was a temporary ban on nurses. I read a question here that a Filipino Nurse prefer other Filipino nurses because they are harder working, but admit that Americans are better educated. Well, I prefer my medical professionals to be more knowledgable. The otehr reason why companies hire outside, is because they can abuse foreign workers. They come from cultures that the boss is king and refuse to fight when they see abuses. Foreign workers are more likely to go along when they are asked to do something illegal. When I was in a Union tehy members stated the reason why the Hospital only hire Filipinos, was they know they won't speak up. The other reason is that H1B visa holders are virtual indentured servants. I was told at work all the Filipino workers were afraid because if they speak out against the abusive work environment, the company would revoke their H1B visas and send them home. They are not even allowed to look for other jobs. TO the race baiters, I was the one who spoke out for them. I may not like some of the things they've done, but I see the true evil is the companies who prey on everyone.
As to If I wonder why I didn't get that Job, I don't wonder, I know. I answered an add for a job after I got my license. The interview was suspicious. THey interviewed me in a place far from teh job site. They did not even seem interested. Several months latter I got a letter from the US government detailing that they are planning to hire someone from Africa, and asked if there was a Shortage of those in my profession. I honestly told them NO, and detailed my suspicions of the interview.
It's not just professionals getting hit like this. two agricultural company got fined because they fired the farm laborers and hired Thai legal immigrants to work the farms. The company stated that there was a shortage of farm laborers, which is why they have to import workers. I suspect that some of those who were fired was illegal because the company was cheating them by making them pay for nonexisting taxes, but it's a guess. TO those who are for uncontrolled immigration, this is proof that the farm labor shortage is a hoax and that if we don't control our immigration those you seek to protect would be fired in favor of the next wave of immigrants.
Edit>>>> Oh yea, AMericans are the hardest working people in the developed world. Has been for a decade and has been in the top 3 as long as I was alive. We are second in the most hours work of all the developed nations. Japan is first and beats us out by a day. I do agree we cheat on our sick leave, but that's because American companies are the stingiest in offering days off. Japanese companies offer alot moer vacations , but alot of Japanese prefer to lose some of the vacations for the company. My former boss complained about how lazy Ameriacns are and how they abuse the leave too. He was taken aback because I kept up on these data.

Yes but what they fail to mention are the taxes, Social Security and Medi-Care/Aid and benefits paid in addition to wages, thus making it more expensive to hire legals. But I still think all Illegals should be deported immediately and anyone caught employing illegals should be immediately locked up and have their assets seized to pay for the deportation of said illegals.
To answer the question, Yes I always wonder. However with regards to the available jobs in America and the Competition, it is important to recogonize that during the reagan adminstaration there was a diliberate move to create job insecurity. There was an incouragement to move jobs to cheaper labour pools.
Jobs in america, are more and more. becoming low paying service sector jobs. We don't really make goods in america like we used too. We export raw materials to china and they make us stuff.
The real issue is not that minorities come and compete for low paying jobs, its that muliti national coraprations and your government are giving in to the intrest of higer profits for the few and not looking out for the long term of its people at large.
Interesting. This isn't about illegal immigration, because the immigrants are coming in legally, with valid green cards. This is about the process of getting them here legally.
I'm currious to know, why any employer would want to go through the whole process to hire an immigrant.
I mean, the immigrant may be cheaper, but this process is expensive. Besides, once you have a foreign worker you have to comply with other laws. Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier in the long run to hire an American, where you wouldn't have to worry about dealing with all the other problems of hiring an immigrant?

No, it hasn't been a problem for me, thanks to education and skills.
However, it is appalling that any organization advocates for hiring immigrants (legal or illegal) above citizens (born or naturalized). This exaggerates the so-called need for foreign workers. Recently a plant that ICE raided for illegals, had a huge turnout of Americans applying for jobs following the raid.
I think a lot of this is political and big business-oriented. Politicians want the votes, business wants to be able to continue to depress wages and increase profits over the long term.
