What do you think about this man that got deported?
Guzman is a 29-year-old U.S. citizen who was serving time in the Los Angeles County Men's Central Jail for a misdemeanor trespassing conviction when he was deported to Tijuana in May.
His mother, brother and sister-in-law traveled to Tijuana and searched shelters, jails, churches, hospitals and morgues, but have not found him and fear for his safety.
What do you think about the ICE's fu** up? DEPORTING A US CITIZEN? wow!
Do you think he should sue the USCIS/ICE?
Answer:
They didn't give him time to prove he was a citizen? or try and contact a family member or ask members of the community, since he was developmentally disabled?
They definitely should search Mexico and ask for help from the Mexican authorities (well maybe that might make the situation worse). I think that if ICE messed up and they need to fix their mistake immediately and yes I think he has a case based on what you have told us.
They should have contacted members of the community to search for family members. I thought all prisoners had to have an emergency contact on file in case of an emergency? I might be wrong on that but the fact that he was developmentally disabled and needed special attention should have required extra steps on behalf of ICE. I wonder if he was even issued a lawyer? Anyway I definitely think he and his family have a case against ICE? The county jail? the state? maybe all of them.
he should
I think people really need to do some research on what immigration really is and what things like this really mean to America.
they did the right thing. send all little brown people back to mexico.
Yeah, and he should sue the illegals that are here for creating such a hostile environment.
Yes. Sue the crap out of them. :)
To Mickey: If that's true, why the heck would he do that? That doesn't make any sense? Because he would avoid a judge and probation or something? I don't think so.
It was my understanding that he told the agents he was illegal so it's his own fault and ICE did their job.
Miss Diana, I have no clue why he did it but it was in the article someone posted here. It also mentioned that he was mentally handicapped so that could explain it but still I would think he would know to say he's legal.
jeter it's not nice to single people out but since you did, here you go.
You scarcely just answered this question then you go on a ramble about people on this forum. Let's go ahead and put the cards on the table shall we? You're pissed at me because I blocked you so you're no longer able to run around stalking me,messing with my questions. Will you have this answer deleted as well?
Considering he was such an upstanding citizen, why are we caring about him?
I think I would be one pissed-off mother.
.
I hope he does. Are goverment is so screwed up.
Of course they should sue. I hope they find him safe.
EDIT:
I've started to ignore some people on here. Like Jconly micky Jessica Rabbit Fedup. They ask the dumbest questions and give the stupidest answers. Sometimes they don't even answer, but just ramble on about nonsense.
ACLU already did sue, that is why it is in the paper. Obviously, they need to be careful not to deport citizens. In reality, there will always be occassional glitches and the point is to resolve them immediately. That is a real shame, though, and I hope they find him quickly.
Are they sure he's a citizen? I heard that he lied and is actually a Mexican citizen and HE IS ILLEGAL!
Truthfully I'm surprised they bothered. But seeing they did they should have taken into consideration his mental status. When they asked him if he was illegal he may have thought they were talking about his crime and said yes illegal.People who are mentally challenged often get issues confused. They should have found relatives first and found out for sure.I hope the guy is ok.I can't imagine what his mother and family are going thru.I'd sue the heck out of them.
He is NOT American.. maybe you dont even know what a true American is!~ Viva America
He was a citizen - The is a disconnect between law enforcement and ICE. They need to fix that. I feel sorry for the family - they are Americans of Mexican heritage.
Yes he should SUE. He shouldn't have been deported.
That doesn't surprise me and it shouldn't surprise anyone. It happened all the time back in the 20's and 30's..history tends to repeat itself.
