Is Race or Religon Considered when Accessing Immigration Aplications?
I just wanted to ask, I have lived in Canada my entire life and want to see the world. Not just to visit/vacation, but maybe stay in a place for a few years, work, and move on. I would love to see other English speaking countries like UK, Austrailia, America. Wherever I go I want to do it legally.
I just ask because well.I'm brown (everyone gasps). So on immigration applications, would I be seen as Mr.X the Canadain citizen, or would I be seen as Mr.X the brown guy former Muslim(I gave up organized religon a while ago). My surname is pretty tame, but would stuff like that hurt my application?
Basically, is there racial/religous discrimination in processing immigrants?
Answer:
Trust me on this!
Race sometimes coincides with privilege, but it comes down to what countries have a unilateral travel agreement with Canada. My wife is Chinese and all her documents say PRC (Peoples Republic of China). She is denied travel to countries that have no economic ties to China. That is the way the world works unfortunately. For you, being a Canadian citizen is great. Who doesn't love Canada. They are our (USA) friendly peeps from the north.
Being brown will affect your daily interaction with people, not the ability to travel. It also can raise a few eyes at the immigration line.
I am white and I have issues coming into countries that have weak relations with the USA.
Race no but point of origin is a factor.
I could not say for sure but I'm sure there is. We are not evolved enough as a species to look past those things. Its quite unfortunate.
Of course not! That's what makes this country a free country. We are all equal. It is the few people that live and work around us that make it racist and discriminatory
well.dont come to the states. brown people are hated here. you'll be grouped with undocumented immigrants anyway. go to thailand.
Race is not considered in processing immigrants.
Should not be a problem unless you match a profile for a particular country. Remember some countries may give you a hard time just to do it.
The biggest problem you will have is if you want to stay somewhere and work. Many countries like the UK, Canada, and the US do not want you to enter the country and take a job meant for one of their residents.
That is of course unless you can do something that they need or you can pick lettuce.
PE0PLE OF RACE (ESPECIALLY) BROWN PEOPLE THAT LOOK LIKE THEY ARE THE PEOPLE WHO CONFIGURERED AND PRO CEDED WITH KILLING, MUTILATING, AND BURNING OUR AMERICAN PEOPLE IN 911.
IF WE CAN'T TELL THEM APART, WHAT THEN?
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN WE WILL BE SAFE IN OUR OWN COUNTRY.?
p.s. When are the airport security gong to start checking the illegals from running over our borders , instead of hauling furniture and everthing else over our border?
I get checked at customs with people wanting to know why I colored my hair, NOT anything else.
I dont believe that religion is even on the application, unless of course you are applying for a religious visa for preaching.
Its where your from , your criminal record, education.. those are the things that matter.
The US doesn't ask about religion and doesn't make decisions based on race (it's an identifier, what are you going to do, try to hide it? The paint will peel...)
Some places do though. Your list less likely I should think.
PS we have lots of Muslims here. Former terrorist, now that you should worry about.
