Long long ago, there was this country called Rhodesia that was owned and operated by the British who got fed up with running it and tried to hand it off to the locals.
20% of the locals were white and 99% of the land and money was in white hands. Britain wanted to give it to a democracy but the local whites knew where that would lead - as indeed it has.
Ian Smith took control of the country to keep it prosperous, thriving (yes, I KNOW it was a racist society - so is Israel) and the whole of the rest of the world imposed sanctions on Rhodesia. Eventually the rest of the world got what it wanted and Robert Mugabe became a dictator and Rhodesia changed its name to Zimbabwe and became one of the poorest nations on earth.
The moral of this story is that when people interfere in other countries, the consequences can be wildly unpredictable. Or only too predictable- depends on your viewpoint.
The sad reality is they have to help themselves.

Unfortunately, while Robert Mugabe is voted in by his own people, the world is helpless. And he doesn't threaten any other country (unlike Iraq, with its supposed weapons of mass destruction.)
The people of Zimbabwe should stand up for themselves and overthrow their government if they are that unhappy. Easier said than done, I know.
