A question about jobs?

For all of you who are U.S. citizens and legal immigrants - what are some of the unsavory jobs you've done here? There seems to be a misconception that Americans won't do certain jobs... I just want to know what kind of things you've had to do for a paycheck (not necessarily now, but in your lifetime)?

Answer:
mowed lawns, fixed cars, cleaned toilets, cooked, cleaned, cleaned sewers, worked in sweat shops, chopped wood, worked in fields, picked crops, fought for my country, helped the homeless, shoveled snow, cleaned up crap, dug outhouses and emptied honey buckets (crap), dug ditches, planted crops, harvested crops, canned goods, changed bed pans, volunteered in hospitals and old-folks' homes, served in office, filing, data entry -- you name it, I've probably done it. That's what it's like to grow up poor and work for a better life while obeying the laws of the land. Oh, and I've worked for food and clothing instead of money wherever necessary.
repaired and replaced pipes that led from the toilet to the sewer. Yummy.
I've washed dishes, packed boxes, mopped floors, and worked in a warehouse stacking shoes. I believe some, if not all, of these jobs fall under the category of jobs "Americans won't do."
I took care of old people at an assisted living facility, I answered phones for an escort service. I worked for tips only as a beer tub girl/cocktail waitress, I have done fast food for minimum wage, nothing too nasty, but definitly not the greatest jobs ever.

I also, bagged groceries. Hey a job is a job man.
Not Applicable. I always had an excellent job making over 300,000 a year.
Janitor,Dishwasher at a nursing home,Waitress for a caterer,CNA in a psych. hospital.
When I was younger I did roofing. Roofing in Florida is not a desirable job. It payed minimum wage.
Work on the lowest jobs on the totem pole in the food service business: Pots and pans, dishes, and trash
Clean toliets at mickey d's.
Lift very heavy trash like Alexly Alexev winning gold medals in weightlifting.
These are awlful jobs, but I have to do it. For My Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, my family, and America.
I'm a US citizen (I was born here & so was the rest of my family, just in case your wondering).

When I was working on my undergrad degree I worked my first two years as a nanny. I basically was maid & nanny. I did this work to pay for books & living expenses. My parents only had enough to cover my tuition, hey I had to raise the money some how.
Cleaned the rest rooms and showers on the beach at the jersey shore, I could tell you stories but you would lose your lunch.
I worked as choker in a logging yard (hardest Job I ever did), worked at an optical factory, worked in a gas station, Was a soldier for 21 years, worked for Autozone, worked as a heavy equipment operator, and again work for the federal gov again. Some of them extremely hard for little pay, and all points in between.
Hmmm when I was 16 I worked for an amusement park for 4.75 an hour. I only worked 8 hours a day max and it was more fun than work.

I would not work for anything close to that now.
In my younger days and college years:

0) newspaper delivery
1) grocery bag boy
2) security guard
3) janitor/maintenance
4) demolition and asbestos removal
5) iron worker/welder
6) pressure wash restaurant stove vents/grease trap cleaning worker

But, after furthering and completing my education and receiving a degree and a masters, I am the senior adviser of a social service agency. Those jobs that I mentioned is still essential for Americans, as a pathway to their own success. We all wish we could start off getting paid $50k a year, but the reality is it does not work this way. The aforementioned is how it works, and Americans will all for the most go through a similar pathway!
Delivered newspapers, car-hop, waitress, janitor, house-keeper in a nursing home, maid, cleaned condos, cashier, stock, bartender, cook, gold wire bonding, painter, etc .but the best was pulling dead chickens at a chicken farm. (LOL) That was a real classy job. LOL
My hubby is a legal resident from Mexico. He delivered newspapers in the beginning..Now we have our own business in Real Estate...
I do not have an answer to your question.

I just wanted to tell you that you rock. I really enjoy your questions and answers. You are level headed and do not lose your cool ( unlike me *wink*) Good example of your level headiness. Thanks!!!
