If all these illegal immigrants were deported?

Are you going to take over the jobs that they were doing? Regardless of what it pays?

Answer:
maybe we can get all the American citizens scamming the government for welfare, unemployment, etc. to do those jobs. Oh that's right, they are too lazy.
No I will form a union!
Yes, my yard guy is white by the way. Best price in town.
That's the thing - employers would have to do it on the books, and pay a fair wage. The people who hire illegals are just as much to blame as anyone else for the problems we have. They shouldn't be hiring illegals in the first place, let alone under the table and for joke wages.

But to answer you, if I needed a job, yes, I would do anything I had to. I'm not above, too arrogant, or to proud to do what it takes to support my family.
No, you take the able-bodied people who are on welfare and have them do those jobs.
No. If the job doesn't pay enough, so no one wants to do it, then it needs to pay more. That's the free market system.

What happens when these illegals are legalized and then qualify for minimum wage and other worker's rights? Will these jobs comply with the law and pay more then or will they just kick the legalized immigrants out and bring in more illegal ones?

Do you think anyone asked "who'll pick the cotton?" when they proposed abolishing slavery? Give me a break.
Its a great thought, but why waste my time on wishful thinking , when it will never happen,,,,,,,,
I AM doing the same jobs in construction as the illegals. The problem is that the illegals keep us that belong from being paid what we should be. Send them ALL back to where ever they came from!
No, of course not. The companies would have to offer more money for the jobs and the prices would have to be raised for those products and services. Some companies may go out of business if those goods could then be produced for less money in other countries with cheaper labor. They may even relocate the company south of the border to take advantage of the cheaper labor rates there.

But the savings on police enforcement, health care, education and social services to the American taxpayer would more than offset any losses.
Minimum wage is going up in the US soon. If a person doesn't want to pay minimum wage, then they need to lose their business in the first place. If you want to come to the US, I have no problem with it - so long as you come LEGALLY! If groves of US citizens, for some reason, tried to sneak into Mexico, they'd mow us down with automatic weapons and you know that's the truth!
well i dont think they should be deported. i think they should be given at least a work visa and then they can work for fair wages. and i think those people who hire them for $1 an hour should be put in jail.anyone working in the US should be paid at least the federal minimum wage. regardless of status. people come here to make a better life for their families and they are becoming enslaved because the system is too hard to come legally and once you are an illegal you are basically a slave.
Employers wouold have to find employeesd, they would end up raising wages to get employees, win win for everyone, people get better paying jobs and those people get off the system.

cheers and have a nice day
No I won't, because I don't have to, but all the people who are on welfare can. We have millions of people collecting welfare saying they can't find jobs. Let them do these jobs, and get off welfare, and if they don't take these jobs, kick em off welfare.
If all of the illegal immigrants were deported, my side of town would be empty. Ahhhh, sweet peace!
If I was to lose my job today and the jobs that they do were the only jobs available, you better believe I'd take them.I would demand higher pay for the job also. The reason the company owners are getting away with paying peanuts is because the illegal immigrants are willing to work for peanuts.Just ask my cousin who used to work in construction in Florida. His salary was cut and he was expected to be the interpeter also.He told the boss to" take this job and shove it."
Personally, no I wouldn't because I have a Master's Degree; why would I take a job picking veggies, washing dishes, cleaning hotel roos, etc, etc?

However, my dad, two brothers, and people in my family do not have a masters and many either barely graduated hs or not at all. What about them? They are the ones who have to compete with illegal immigrants everyday.

My father has a hs diploma and can barely walk without pain because he got into a car accident and had both his legs broken. For the past ten years he has had to go to labor centers to find menial labor jobs making minumum wage. This after being let go from his job at a school as a jaitor after the company went private and hired a bunch of illegals. How do I know tha they were legal you may ask? The company that hired them was investigated and was found to have many illegals on their rosters.

My cousin is a cook at IHOP and tells me how at his job, some of the cooks who work on a different ship than him change their names every other month to avoid a "paper trail."

Yeah, I know that most of us on this forum are either students, are very educated, and have access to computers (which many poor people don't), but I bet if they could talk, you would hear them say that they'd gladly take the leftover from a mass deportation of illegal.
Yes, yes I would! I’m an under-employed computer tech that has been out-sourced. I am trying to make a $1260.00 per month house payment on $13.00 per hour! If all the illegal immigrants were deported, our wages would go back up and my taxes would go back down!

If all the illegal immigrants were deported: Maybe even my kids could get a job digging a ditch for a "fair wage"!
I love how immigration always comes down to the illegals doing the jobs no one else wants for next to no money.

Two things.

First, there are always complaints that it's illegal and unfair to pay people below minimum wage, so that argument is not quite as valid as it seems. Many of the jobs that you're referring to (not all, maybe not even the majority, but quite a few) are no longer being paid below minimum wage.

Second, they are here illegally. It doesn't matter how they were repressed, oppressed, abused, treated, or otherwise harmed in their country of origin. They made a decision to break the law and sneak across our borders. Plain and simple. Just because you don't agree with a law, or it would make your life easier to ignore it, doesn't give ANYONE the right to do so. If it's too difficult to get a visa or green card to come here, then lobby to change the regulations, but don't become a criminal.

I'm sorry, but the illegal immigrants in this country are costing a lot more money than most people realize. Tax dollars are paying for teachers to teach English to students who are entering our school system unable to speak the language. Tax dollars are helping to subsidize health care costs, uninsured motorist claims, housing, welfare, and dozens of other programs that are being taken advantage of.

Not all illegal immigrants become criminals beyond their illegally entering the country, but a good number are involved in identity theft, welfare scams, insurance fraud, operating businesses without a license, occupancy and fire code violations, and other major or minor criminal activities, many centered around bringing family members to the country illegally.

If you are in this country illegally, you are a criminal, and have broken the law. Plain and simple. If you believe that America should open its doors wide and allow anyone and everyone who wants to come here do so without any sort of border protection, then I recommend you lobby for that. You can't have it both ways. You can't say that we need border protection, and we need to know who is coming and going, but that it's okay for people to sneak across the border and live here illegally, too.

I know that this is not going to be a popular opinion with you, but you must understand that if the laws need to change, and it needs to be easier for people to come here if they need to, then that's the answer. Simply allowing them to come here undocumented and start working and living without getting residency status is simply not a good solution to any problem.
I can agree with you to some extent about the work you talk about Americans not wanting. Hell, even a majority will agree you all do a service that most Americans will not do for the pay you all get. But get this, it has nothing to do with jobs, it's to do with breaking our laws and not assimilating yourself to the American way. I am not saying to get rid of your culture or love of your country where ever from, just need to speak the language and enter here the right way. It is so alarming how the Mexican border is being used right now by OTM's (other the Mexico). We have Muslim terrorist cell members coming through Mexico and the Canadian borders at will. This is truly the core of the problem, this is the passion against illegal undocumented immigrants. You can have the job, knock the door and let us welcome you in. People cannot assume that if you steal from your neighbors, they will welcome you with open arms, this is why there is so many angered Americans at their politicians.
Your question seem to show that you don't understand why so many people are against illegal immigrants. THe point is that we deserve a reasonable wage and work condition. According to economic models, are salary should be going up, but it isn't. The BBC publish a report last year stating the reason American salaries has stalled is the China effect. THey included illegal immigrants as part of the prolem. CHina steals all the jobs they can from America, and those who they can not take is given to illegal immigrants. THe top three jobs illegal immigrants do in order is construction, Farm laborer and house keeping. THese jobs can not be done in China. Yes, if we deport illegal immigrants all of a sudden, it would temporarily hurt our economy. The key is temporarily. Also I doubt we are able to deport all the illegal immigrants all at once.
I'm not stupid. I'm not going to leave my engineering job and harvest crops in someone elses fields.

I have done many difficult, poorly paying jobs. I have worked as a janitor scrubbing public toilets. I have hoed orchards. I have dug holes and shoveled truck loads of rock. I did those things and worked through engineering school. You know where you can put your guilt trip nonsense.

The difference is that I wasn't a criminal. I wasn't making up for my lack of income by STEALING from the general public.

Do you know how many illegal immigrants are filling the prisons in California? Do you think they are being put there because they aren't citizens? You want me to leave my job that I've worked hard all my life to qualify for. Put your pocketbook where your mouth is. You pay the cost of all the criminal illegal immigrants that are in prison. You repay all the things they stole, all the vandalism they have done, all the lost wages from hard working citizens they have murdered, all the lost profits from the identity theft they have committed.

The illegal immigrant problem is an invasion of this country. It needs to be delt with as such. There is likely need to improve our immigration laws AFTER we put a plug in the problem. If you want to come here legally, such that we know who you are and why you are here, then please come.

If illegal immigration is not a problem, why doesn't Mexico allow it in their country? Don't you dare come into my country violating our laws and damand anything. You will not like my reaction. You have no right and I will extend you none.
If illegals were deported ;it would be a win win for everyone.
Less crime
property values up
Less welfare
Better medical services
More jobs for citizens
More safety.
This is just a part of a never ending list but the country would be better off without them.
"they would end up raising wages to get employees" -sure and raising everything else...-
Illegal immigrants are not necessarily criminals. However, unless laws are changed, these deported immigrants will find their way back.

What laws am I talking about?

1. Automatic citizenship at birth
2. Free schools and free medical services

And as long as businesses want cheap labor, and as long as there is lax border control, there will be a steady flow of illegal immigrants.

Why do businesses want cheap labor? To remain price competitive, of course. In order to stay competitive with other businesses, they have to keep costs down, and labor costs low. Unions are always hiking wages up, so these businesses can't get cheap labor from Unions. So, where do they look for cheap labor? Illegal immigrants, of course.

It's just the law of supply and demand.

What will happen if ALL the illegal immigrants are deported?

A lot of small businesses will go bankrupt. Many service sector and manufacturing and agricultural sector businesses will go bankrupt OR they'll have to raise the price of their products to stay in business. When prices go up, people will have to pay more out of pocket. Also, many cities will lose a significant population, and also lose some businesses. The American economy will take a hit.
no way american teens would work these jobs anymore, maybe 50 yrs ago yes but with all these illegals working these jobs american teens would feel insulted to work this type of jobs. lot less picking grapes or mowing lawns
Myself personally? No. BUt there are americans who will in fact do those jobs. All they have to do is raise the pay. We did it before you came and we will do it after. The day you guys went on strike thinking you were going to do some damage, the economy didn't even blink.
Already do those jobs and many of us work three or more jobs just to make ends meet. it would be great to be rid of lawbreakers and corrupt corporations. Bring it on. Deport them all! Fine the corporations and businesses. Take away the federal funds for sanctuary cities and take away the health care, the emergency room care, the education and everything else from illegal immigrants. They are not welcome and we can certainly get along just fine without them. We're already starting to do our own farming to protect ourselves from their poisons and we're not letting them clean our hotel rooms without videotaping them to ensure that they are not stealing from us or taking our identities. The illegals can't be trusted and we are doing what it takes to ensure that we aren't eating out in restaurants where there is even a hint of illegal immigrants. We're not shopping at Wal mart or buying Pepsi or buying anything that is made or manufactured by illegal immigrants.

Let the California farmers hire students and welfare workers and prisoners to do the field work or let them offer us the work and give us transportation and housing while we harvest their crops. I don't mind working in the fields. It's good work.
I wouldn't take that job: I already have one that pays better.

I doubt too many Americans would take the jobs - they usually don't pay enough to get by on. Even if the employers were forced to start paying minimum wage, it would not be enough for most Americans.

I agree with Ron. Alma you have issues chica!
