I agree, this is bullcrap. This is america, we speak english. Everytime i am out and i see a sign that has spanish on it, i spraypaint over it, or rip it off the wall. Ha!

So you have to push a button on the telephone to get to wait for a customer service rep. Boo-hoo. I think I can agree with you, English is what we speak in America, but seriously dude, it's not corporations offering directions in mulitple languages that is destroying our culture. I'm no expert and can't offer solutions, but maybe it has to do with immigration and border security? I don't know.

I would understand more your complain about having to press 1 for English -- even when it's a lame complaint. But you are complaining about products being in another language? You idiot! Do you not know that most of those products are exported? Are you asking foreigners to learn English in their own country just so they can understand the instructions? To hell with that!
It should automatically come up in English,This is the language of our country,to those who speak anything else ,learn English.

The reason Corporations do this, is for the $$$. You can press 1 once the person says that, instead of waiting for the whole message. Look on the bright side, you will learn how to say "press 2 for espanol" soon.

we are rewarding illegal immigrants by allowing them to get around our country by givng them spanish options for everything. if we refused to go along with it, they would have a much harder time getting jobs, etc. if they dont speak english, theyre not worth my time. i took spanish for 3 years and hated it. and not only because i didnt like the subject, most schools now require spanish. (some give the option of french, but spanish is a primary). this gives mexicans and other illegal immigrants opportunities. and im not saying they dont deserve opportunities in our country, of course not...but they should obtain said opportunities LEGALLY. it pisses me off to no extent. and i agree with you, my friend, we are allowing them to destroy our culture. however, as one of the fellow commentors suggested "ripping/spray painting spanish signs".is vandalism. we shldnt resort to that. i hope it is ok to pose a new question under your post:
what are we to DO about it. we the people must take action!

If you lived in certain parts of Europe, you'd have more than two languages to choose from, and you might actually know more than just one of them.
My wife, an Anglo, happens to know both English and Spanish, can feely switch between them, and enjoys doing so because she things (as do I) that Spanish is a beautiful language. Moreso than English, for that matter.
Open up your mind, you might find it interesting to learn another language. You might even get to know some Mexican people and find out that many of them are actually nice, fun-loving, and I should probably add HARD-WORKING people.
According to the INS, "You will need to take a test which demonstrates that you can speak and write in English. You will also be tested on basic history and government in the U.S."
I make a motion that English be made the official language of the U.S.A. and that ALL government forms be printed in and all functions be conducted in the english language.
I further move that the use of any language other than English in business, schools, public signage, communications of any kind including radio, tv, cable tv, internet be prohibited by law.
Don't forget, the people now invading us destroyed the Mayan civilization.

I guess personally I would like those who choose to live in another country, i.e. make a conscious choice to move to the Unites States, to also learn the language that is predominately spoken in that area. If I choose to move to a different country that spoke mainly another language I would want to learn that language so I knew what was being said around me and could freely communicate.
IT is true the US does not have an official language but there are a number of states that have adopted English as it official language. I live in one of those states.
As far as instructions - doesn't bother me because so many products are exported and a lot of companies depend on that to make their money. Also other countries who export their products but English instructions in so I appreciate that.
