I am an american, if i marry a uk citizen in the uk how long does it take for him to be abl to enter the u.s.?

my fiance is a british citizen and we would like to get married. It's so difficult if he comes over here and it will take 6-8 months for the fiance visa to be cleared that we thought maybe if i go over there and we get married it would be easier and he could come straight over and we could file for his visa then. But can he stay while the paperwork is being processed?

Answer:
Go ahead and apply for a k-1 fiance visa. Unless one of you is independently wealthy, you'll both need to keep working. With the k-1, its quicker once he enter's the country. Go to http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis... for actual information and forms. The real question you need to ask is, "How long will it take for him to have permission to work?"
For citizenship and naturalization issues go to www.uscis.gov
It takes about the same length of time. He will still have to wait in his country for the visa to be processed. A K1 or K3 visa takes about the same amount of time.
The best thing to do is to try to get him into the US on visa waiver - it would be even better if he came on a tourist visa. Once he's in the country, get married asap and file for an adjustment of status. The government usually gives short overstays if the green card application is based on marriage anyway, but if he can come over on a travel visa that is even better. Just tell immigration that he was just planning to come to the US to visit, but on the spur of the moment you decided to get married. He can stay while the paperwork is processed, and even ask for a work card to work - but he won't be able to go back to the UK for at least a few years.
