Utah lawmakers want the Feds to pick up the cost to states of educating children of illegal immigrants?

Answer:
I remember that the Census purposefully undercount illegal immigrants so they could reduce the fundings going to California. That's also why I roll my Eyes when People tell me they know the exact numbers of anything involving illegal immigrants. I agree with hitting the Feds with the BIll.
Welcome back. People have been asking about you.
GOOD
I agree completely. If the Federal Government were to start having to pay the bills that all of the individual states and cities could submit for the costs of the illegal immigrants, you can bet some better enforcement would start happening. It's easy for them to ignore the problem, otherwise. And, obviously there are some areas less affected by illegal immigration and until they are (and it is spreading to them all sooner or later) people are able to turn a blind eye to the true costs.
The federal government should pick up the tab for deportation of illegal aliens, as well as the tab for reimbursing states for the costs to them providing services to illegal aliens. Some schools have reported having to close traditional programs to fund the ESL and remedial classes for children of illegal aliens. A school here reduced Gifted and Talented classes to fund ESL as well as cutting out several elective classes (including French and Italian language classes) and tutoring programs. Free lunch enrollment was noted to be increased by 56% in the same report.
The federal government is failing to meet their obligations to the states by not enforcing immigration law and securing the border. That how I "sez" I feel anyway.
Although a good idea. It rolls downhill though into and out of taxpayers wallets, bank/saving accounts. As it is the Feds have trouble reimbursing the States for their soldiers war gear, and equipment.
This is pretty hilarious. I would love too see Utah try and invoice the federal gov't for their "expenses". Not that they have any authority to do so. Or, at least, I am not aware of any authority that individual states have to levy fees against the federal government. This is not to say that the federal government shouldn't be responsible for the problem they have created, because I feel they should. But maybe at the very least it will send a bigger message to Washington to get this immigration thing fixed.
Oh and I also find it amusing that the guy in the article argues that undocumented workers don't pay taxes when it seems quite clearly that they do. (I would love to see a study that effectively calculates the costs to benefit ratio of illegal immigrants, i.e. taxes vs state services)
