Why don't Mexican immigrants just come to "visit" the US?
Answer:
Canadians are exempt from normal visa requirements. It used to be that all Canadians needed was a birth certificate and drivers license, but this is changing so even Canadians will need a passport.
Mexicans need a visa, and to get that visa need to demonstrate that they are likely to return to mexico, and supply biometric data to prove identity, and make them easier to track down and deport.
So how hard is it to get a visitor visa? Apparently it is harder for mexicans to get visitor visas than people from other countries, but I don't know the criteria. I suspect, however, that if you only have a minimum wage job in Mexico, that you will be denied a tourist visa into the US. And so the very poor in Mexico that want to migrate to the US need to cross illegally.
Of Mexicans that do get visas,1.7% overstay their visas.
Now - onto my soapbox. It is ridiculous to state that illegal immigration is necessary to the US economy. Canada doesn't have anything like the illegal immigration that the US does, and the economy is fine, thank you very much. How does Canada do it? Well - duh - Canada allows more LEGAL immigrants. And those LEGAL immigrants pay taxes, are supported by social security, and so are far less likely to get caught up in crime, be exploited, and so on.
What to do with illegals that are currently here?
The fair thing is to kick the illegals out and let those waiting at the front of the LEGAL applicant queue to come in. The danger is that this drives illegals further underground. So the right answer is to provide a path to citizenship for those here, and then start being serious about controlling immigration.
And fix Mexico - it is absolutely ridiculous that Mexico has such poverty with its unparalleled access to the richest market in the world. Why is all the work going to China instead of Mexico? Because Mexico is broken. Can it be fixed? I don't know - but let's get top economists working on the problem and make some bold changes.
Otherwise nothing will change.

We don't need people who don't belong here in our country, thus the term "illegal." Also, a person who is not legal is not privileged to rights that the citizens have/get and I have no idea why they or those who support them think they should be.
NO CHOICE but to find other ways in? You mean since they've already broken the law by "disappearing" on a visitor visa, that they have no choice but to again break the law by sneaking in across the border?

Why are you guys all behind Mexicans. These days everywhere you go people are talking about Mexican. Who is gonna build you houses,paint it, construct roads, cut grasses without them. We need them you guys. If they leave FUEL prices will go up because we will be using more gas to cut the grass and trying to figure out who to make these thing actually cut the grass.

Are you sure of what you are saying? i have visited several times the US, just like that without a problem.

The US gives LOTS of tourists visas in Mexico, you have lots of mexican TOURISTS.
They do especially the up ittie upscales!
Just go to any local mall and you'll see them on their shopping sprees!
They don't want to just visit. They want to stay here so that they can do all the following:
Steal a job
NOT pay taxes
have us pay for their stuff/family.
I don't care if it's just visiting, we have enough of them here in the U.S.! I don't even wanting them visiting no more! Get out and go somewhere else illegals! You are overcrowding, and you are criminals! Why? because you are here ILLEGALLY!

for every Mexican migrating, there are 100 who have no
desire to come to the U.S. And, Yes, many come to visit
amusement parks, like everyone else around the world,
because, Yes, some of them have good paying jobs.

Yes, it's harder. Despite what we say, there is racial profiling at our borders, Those with darker skins do get looked at more closely when they cross our borders. Yes, their are people from Mexico who overstay, but I think it's a lot more difficult for a Mexican to get a visa to get here, than a Canadian. I don't even think they need a visa, to tell the truth. I have to ask my Canadian relatives next time. I think other than Mexicans are more likely to illegally stay here, Canadians, at least use to, spend alot of money on our economy when they visit. As for any country, we are accomadating when an ararngement is benficial to us.
Because U.S. has a better relationship with Canada and Mexico has a poorer economy, go figure.
Because we will hire them to do the work that a lot of Americans are to lazy to do and do it cheap. Then they manage to get government benefits for free. What is the incentive to leave a country that you can rip off daily and not get in trouble for it. Its bad when the government knows that this is going on and still allows it. I imagine that most of the illegals are singing Lee Greenwood's 'God Bless the USA' as an anthem.
They would be legal that isn't in the mind set of criminal illegal aliens Mexicans.Then there would be a paper trail for them to be followed .So then they couldn't get all the free bees an screw the system. CIRIUS - where do you live? I used to live in California and it's true that in Cal almost all of the unskilled labor jobs are done by illegals. You get used to seeing it.
Now, I live in the Midwest, all those jobs are done by Americans, the lower paying jobs(i.e.fast food) by teenagers. Americans are capable of labor - we're not crippled!!
