I've been offering to pay for some of their one-way tickets out of here ever since they threatened leaving about the Kerry loss. Not one person has taken me up on my offer, coloring me disappointed.
I agree. Unlike many countries, the US borders don't have machineguns stopping people from leaving. They're welcome to burn the road up, and go to whatever country will have them. No loss to us!
They love the country enough to (1) want to stay and (2) want to improve it. If they loved it even more, they'd work together to improve it themselves.
That pretty much goes for any country.

Deep down, they truly believe that they would be worse off in another country. Some people need something to complain about, or they'll go mad. Others actually believe that the country is of poor quality, but are too lazy to do anything to improve it. Hypocrisy, mate.

um, because we ARE Americans, just like you sweetie, and this is OUR country just as it is yours. Sorry buddy, but ever heard of democracy? Whoever taught you that everyone has to agree with one another?
I just came back from Florida. I was appalled at the number of rightwing radio stations dishing propaganda. I was wondering why the average person listening to those distortions, half truths and actual lies believe what is broadcast.
My conclusion is that the average person does not have the critical evaluation skills to detect the lies, half truths and flawed logic spewed by the hosts of these programs.
These hosts are extremely talented (I wish I had talents that can get millions of people to listen to me thus making me wealthy and very powerful).
Alot of the stuff I heard on the radio is opinion clothed as fact. In example, I heard that Europe (Germany in particular) is having major problems because of the socialist systems of their countries. As far as I know, Germany is doing just fine.
Germany gives all their employees one month paid holidays (who does not want one month holiday? - perhaps the business owners that want to keep more money for themselves?).
Germany as well as all, let me rephrase that, ALL industrialized countries except the US of A have a national health care program. Who does not want access to health care? Perhaps the wealthy that can afford it but know that they are taxed more than average person and hence subsidizing the health care.
I don't blame those wealthy individuals for opposing this, but to have middle class or lower middle class and lower class campaigning against it is not acting in their self interest.
(Just in case you are thinking that you should be acting in the national interest, you are actually acting in the employers interest. If you don't act in your interest, who will act in your interest?)
Germany has a parental leave plan where one parent gets one year off to look after a new born or an adopted child. This makes alot of sense. Perhaps in the long run this is a good investment leading to less crime and less cost of running jails.
America has the worst crime rate of any industrialized country and worst social safety net of any industrialized country. Are these two facts related?
If America spends more money on social systems, perhaps less people will commit crime. That appears to be the situation in many industrialized countries.
If the US gov listened to the rest of the world before invading Iraq, we would not have soldiers dying and btw, a soldier killed in combat does not necessarily make him a hero - it makes him a KIA. A hero is someone that actually has done or tried to do something that benefits his country. Getting killed is counter productive to his country unless the soldier, in the process of getting killed, has achieved something beneficial.
Don't get me wrong. I am glad we have soldiers, and they are blindly following the gov orders. A soldier has to follow orders from his commanders. If soldiers don't, there will be chaos and possibly anarchy. But getting killed in action does not necessarily make him a hero.
This war has cost us hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of innocent lives. Guess what, someone has to pay for that. And we will pay dearly in taxes and interested accrued on that debt. For you "lower that tax" republicans, Bush has raised your taxes, but that has not yet been implemented.
I wish this country would stop listening to political buzz phrases and actually thought for themselves on whether it is the right thing to do what the gov asks us to do.
Disagreeing with our president is not anti-patriotic, it is, in my opinion, as patriotic as voting. We are voicing our wishes when we disagree or agree with the president.
Here is an example of facts and an erroneous conclusion. It is a joke when told properly I use it to illustrate a point. Here it goes.
An undergraduate (ug) from a low caliber college is doing a study on the behavior of frogs that respond to verbal cues as the number of limbs are modified.

My concerns about what is currently happening in America can take up many pages. I wish I had the energy to actively campaign to change what I believe is wrong with the country. Unfortunately, I don't have that energy. I did the next best thing; I left to a more gentle country like a rat jumping a sinking ship.
I hope to come back some day when things are less "cowboy style" exuding the mentality of bomb anyone that disagrees with the US policies is the norm.
I love America and most of it's people.All of the males in my family have served in the US military for generations.My country is changing I am afraid in a negative way. I am getting older now and have lost some of my fight.I will be looking out for myself now ,since I feel my goverment has let us all down.I will be leaving the states in a couple of years to live out my days in peace and quite in a foriegn land.Good luck everyone..Yeah, quess you could call me a quitter...It will soon be a one world goverment anyways.
