Are we supposed to feel sorry for these people?

Who is the spin-meister behind this story?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070613/lf_n...

If you were a parent who REALLY cared for your children, why would you EVER put them in a situation where they could be separated from you?

This situation is NO DIFFERENT than a parent selling drugs risking they could be busted and sent to prison, thus being separated from their children.

The law is the law - you break the law, you must be prepared to pay the consequence.

Are we going to get sob stories about families separated because dad robbed a bank next?

I am a parent and I would NEVER put my child in that situation...any other opinions on this?

I do fell bad for the children - feel bad that their parents could give a crap about them and are leaving them hung out to dry.

Answer:
Unbelieveable... Well, not really, but disgusting nonetheless!
Look, I don't argue that life sucks in Mexico, but why/how is that AMERICA's responsibility? (Don't say NAFTA, or they'd be working at American jobs down there.)
If my car is broken and I don't want to spend the money or energy to fix it, I can just take yours, right? No! Nor should I have the right to!
Mexico's government is horribly broken... It is totally corrupt--they illegally export their poverty here for us to pay for. And we're supposed to just let them because illegals aliens who have CHOSEN to come here ILLEGALLY to have kids (who were probably paid for by state health care--see article link below) want us to feel bad about their poor choices.

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime--it's what keeps the vast majority of Americans out of jail. We like our freedoms and are willing to abide by very reasonable laws to keep them.

Illegal aliens KNOW what they're doing when they come here! The Mexican governments provides them instruction manuals on how to cross the border and take advantage of our social services. They KNOW what they're doing is illegal. They are WILLFULLY breaking our laws by coming here in the hopes that they won't get caught and won't get punished if they are. WHY do they deserve better treatment than those waiting in line to immigrate legally? Why do they deserve better benefits than our own poor?

And this load of malarky...
"People already complain that strawberries are $4 a quart. Do they want it to be $10?" he said. "If you don't let these people come over here you'll get food from the same place we get our oil -- overseas. Do you want them to control our food supply too?"

Surely you understand that prices are artificially low because famers (and other industries) aren't paying their "employees" fair wages or benefits. We taxpayers pay far more than $10 a quarts-worth of strawberries in our taxes for social programs like free public education and free lunches.
Yes, the prices on some labor-intensive foods/markets would rise initially until they become stabilized by supply/demand. Meanwhile, however, the costs in practically everything else would decline.
Personally, I'd gladly pay $5 for a head of lettuce if we could stop paying for illegals to come here and have babies in our hosptitals for free--that's thousands for EACH baby born here!

"Only women who can prove their citizenship get prenatal care from AHCCCS. For noncitizens — illegal immigrants, and immigrants who live here legally but are working to obtain citizenship — AHCCCS will cover baby deliveries only. That's in keeping with the AHCCCS policy of providing only emergency care to noncitizens, and a woman in labor is considered a medical emergency.
At TMC last year, 1,210 babies were born to noncitizen mothers — about 18 percent of the hospital's total births, said TMC spokeswoman Julia Strange."

That says enough... Pffftt... I'm done.
Umm, I think you do feel bad for them but don't want to admit it. Otherwise you wouldn't be asking the question. Don't worry, I know it's a new emotion, but feeling empathy is perfectly normal.
Hmm, so let me get this straight. Trying to feed your family by working is a crime that compares to selling drugs and bank robbing. Well let's hope "they" don't come for you some day. We don't want to hear YOUR sob story.
Yes, we are supposed to, but I don't. I also think they shouldn't have sooo many children they clearly are NOT prepared to care for.
"...pregnant mother of 3..."

OMG. That says it all, right there. I don't give a flip is she hasn't accepted a single penny in welfare, she is obviously here to give birth to citizens in the hope that she won't be deported. Too bad, so sad. She has been here at least 12 years. Don't tell me she didn't have time to fill out some paperwork or get a green card.

This is what separates we law-abiding citizens from criminals of all kinds. We EXPECT to get caught and judged for our crimes. They act all shocked when they get busted and then cry foul.
We need to change the law to deny citizenship to children of illegals. There parents are Mexican so the children should be to. The kids could go back with mom to the homeland then.
Let me get this right - illegals come here illegally, they work illegally, they use fake ID's illegally, they use false SSN illegally, the drive w/o insurance illegally, they use other's ID's illegally - - - so someone tell me again about the nice law abiding people who are here just to work.
I feel sad for the Kids, I feel anger for the parents for putting us and the kids in this position. As for a need for more farm laborer, we could alway import them from other states adn if that doesn't work, We could increase the quota for legal immigrants who wants to work at the farms.

for those who question my anger, I am tired of emotional blackmail. THe more people try to control how I fell, the more it backfires.

edit:

WHo is driving these new raids anyways? Isn't the President in Charge of Ice?? Isn't he pushing the immigration bill?? Something is fishy.
Yes! we are supposed to feel bad that a family has been torn apart and there are several situations in which a child can be separated from its parents. And by the way American was not always America don't forget that, once upon a time Americans were simply illegal immigrants. Feel sorry for them because they are a HUMAN family who are now just contributing to the single parent statistic.
p.s. you reap what you sow; that is true not only for them but for you as well and when you loss compassion for another person you find yourself in the same predicament!
I feel bad for my children forced to be a minority in my own country, thats who I feel bad for! And how dare they bring children into their criminal acts! Get them all out and let them all be together this is sick and needs to be stopped now!!!!!!!!!... All illegals need deportation and give us peace!
I have read the story and really do feel sorry for these people. They come over to try and better themselves and give their families a better life. What does annoy me is the fact that most are being exploited and given menial jobs. However, after all is said and done, they are breaking the law and must suffer the consequencies if caught. They should give it serious thought beforehand and maybe not have children to put them in that predicament in the first place.
It is aimed at getting a tear-jerk response.
Basically, though, since the father was here legally, they knew how to enter the US legally.
Obviously, they knew they were breaking the law with the mother's status.
They made a bad decision and broke the law.
Deport her. Parents who commit crimes and go to prison are separated from their children as well.
Repeal the laws allowing anchor babies.
Totally agree with you. Being a criminal ( in the USA illegally ) and having children KNOWING you could get deported and put your children without a source of food and shelter should be consider criminal negligence.
I noticed that so many tell us that it is wrong to separate families because illegals do this. But they never say that because these children are illegals too whether they were born here or not (as the forefathers who wrote the Constitution DID NOT ADOPT English law regarding Jus Solis no matter what people have been told or believe in the matter) that these parents can take those children back with them. In fact it should be a mandatory requirement so not to "break up families".

The lies, and fables set straight regarding the Constitutions 14th Amendment, and Jus Solis.

I have empathy for them. However ask yourself this - What does our laws say regarding a parent or parents who are American, or Naturalized citizens who abandon their children in this country if caught? Why should it be any different of or for illegals? Abandonment of a child, and neglect is a crime? Why do these people get preferential treatment and sob stories to boot regarding it?
this is just ridiculous. the whole issue. just look at your own post here. you express outrage, but it's misdirected; you're blaming mom and dad. not really their fault and you know it. this whole hate campaign in america must stop! people in the world are looking at america like we used to look at nazis. every day americans are justifying the killing of iraqi citizens, labeling every moslem man, woman, and child as evil. now americans are labeling 10 million mexican men, women, and children as evil lawbreakers. i don't see it. what is this the inquisition? these are, by and large, innocent hard working families. they flee from corruption you cannot imagine. they flee from poverty and hunger. many are in fact not mexican but from honduras and salvador (one of the most dangerous places in this hemisphere). many WALKED from southern mexico.perhaps you are unaware that southern mexico guatemala honduras and salvador have wandering gangs of armed bandits operating at will.

there are certainly some criminals at work in this country and some may have come from elsewhere, but it's certainly NOT the family in the article. no. more criminal are the ladies coming out of church pointing to poor immigrants and sending them back to mexico and central america.

sure it's a problem, been a problem for a long time. but americans should find an agreeable and workable solution. us congress should be coming down hard on the mexican amd central american governments, not the citizens. america is the cause of many of the problems in mexico and farther south! now we have a chance to be the solution.

and it's a stupid argument, i live in a county famous for our strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. i've picked berries and it's no walk in the park. it is very true that a pint of berries will cost 10 or 12 dollars a pint. perhaps more as many will not be able to keep their farms (and more americans will be OUT of work).
i don't feel bad for them. my uncle went to Vietnam war, saw everything on the front line. friends blown out of their boots. half laying in one place and the other half somewhere else. he left 3 kids and a wife to go. no one took pity on his family. no, i don't feel sorry for them.
I agree with you.
You actually consider coming to the U.S. to make a better life for yourself as morally and legally as wrong as selling drugs? Sorry but that alone says alot about you as a person to begin with.

Some of the people that come here from Mexico are doing so for no other reason than to provide a future for their children. Would you sit content whilst your children faced no future with nothing less than the pains of hunger, uneducation, malnutrition, and poverty lingered in their future? If you were any kind of parent you would do what was neccessary to provide for your children albeit right or wrong as far as the law is concerned.

I am a proponent as far as laws are concerned with imigration in this country. But, let us not forget this country is founded with that same ideology in mind. Tearing families apart and leaving children out in the cold is not apart of the ideals of America.

Your sub-par antiquated analogies are nothing more than redneck victim rhetoric spewed from the right-wing diarrehea agenda. I know, let us simply accept every law and idea from our lawmakers without question. They know what is best for everyone with the utmost trustworthienes without regard to finances or the special interest groups right? It's people like you that spew this utter **** that make the rest of us in the country cringe.

(G.Graffin 1988)
Gee idk why you would ever put your children in that situation?perhaps its to at least give them a better life?!?!could that be possible?a person to actually care more about their childs future than their own impact on the childs life?dont you think that you would rather have your child live without you than die with you before he's had a shot at life?jeeez.you have no right to criticize these people when all you think about is that you couldnt live without them and they'll always ask who's my mom instead of thinking what a great oportunity you've given them.
NO!
I agree with you completely, even in the Bible it says the sins of the parents are visited upon the children. I guess that is clear enough for everyone to understand! I'd never put my child at risk of my not being able to care for him myself and I think that is what all the pro's are missing. It was done with forethought and I guess they figured we Americans are a sucker for a sob story! The sad thing, too, is that they are teaching their children that laws don't have to be obeyed! What a great start for their education on morals and civic obligations. What kind of law abiding citizens will we get from these kids? I guess we're all just sick of being the bad guy when, in fact, they did it themselves and we're supposed to just say oh, ok we'll take care of all of you now that your plan has failed to dupe the American government and it's people. I'm not one of those who are willing to take on the committment! This guy who answered said it was a selfless thing to get your child a better life and sacrifice your own for it, my question is why would you continue having children that you cannot afford to feed and care for, selfless or selfish?
It's funny when I hear the liberals say "yes, they use stolen social security cards but that means they pay taxes" and other ridiculous things. NO AMNESTY!
