Go to the immigration/citizenship homepage at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp... and it will give more info than I can. Basically you can apply as a "permanent resident" in one of a few categories which is based upon a point system given for desirable qualities - university degrees etc. If you have over $150K to invest in Canada (various restrictions and the amount may be higher now) you can apply in the "investor status" category. If Canada has a shortage in the type of work you are trained in you can apply in the "skilled worker" category. Anyway, it's all complicated and will take 12 to 18 months so I would suggest to contact a Canadian immigration lawyer. The extra money for this is well worth it.
