Answer:
If you're just coming for a visit, all you'll need is a passport. If you don't have one or you have questions about one, I've provided you with a few links that should answer any questions.
1.) marriage to a us citizen

2.) family member
3.) Green Card Sponsor by Company
Britain has a treaty with the U.S. regarding Visa's; you don;t need one to come over, just a passport; it a reciprocating law.
If you want to remain, try going to school, but get an F-1 visa; to get the F-1 for prolonged stays in school (many years) I believe you msut go to the U.S. embassy and obtain the application (or get online).
You need to show you have the $ for college and to support yourself or you need a host U.S. family that will support you; also, you need to show a connection to Britain that would indicate you will not over stay your f-1 visa;
This was all the requirments for a Brasilian and they may apply to you, But, Check with the U.S. embassy and ask as it may be muchy easier for you as your English (treaty ect).
On the Green card; get an education in a field that would land you a "special job"; nursing, science ect; with this education you can land a U.S. job and remain with a green card; the idea is that there are certain areas that have work force shortages and those fields are special ones; ie, you will not be taking a job away from an American.
This is doable for you...
The best approach on this is one well planed out. Consider you wish to go to school here, then live here.
The school approach requires you
