Yes, if they're expending all their energy planning attacks on our soldiers in Iraq they don't have full capability to plan attacks on schools and shopping malls here in the U.S. It's common sense, you can only multi-task up to a certain point until the quality of your work starts to decline.

Well, first off, they actually do hate us for ur freedom. They think that it is despicable that women in our country have rights. So yes, seriously. Secondly, there hasn't been a terrorist attack on American soil since we started this. Fighting them from their SOURCE is what aids in keeping them from fighting us here.

Think about it. If you want to kill Americans, and cause terror to America, you would do it the easiest way possible. If there is a whole army of Americans in the middle east, you will show up and try to kill them. If we weren't there, they would have to come up with an elaborate plan to get to the US and do their terror.
In other words, we bring their targets to their backyard and make it easier for them.

To me it means that if I go to them they are not coming over to this country to fight us. I think the logic is that there is going to be a fight anyway so lets do it on their soil and not ours.

They don't hate us for our freedom. They ENVY our freedom and intend to take it from us. It worked, for a little while. That's over now!
The same object (or person) can not be in 2 places at the same time. It's basic physics. If the terrorists are in Iraq shooting at our soldiers, they are not in our neighborhoods shooting at unarmed citizens, or flying planes into our buildings.
They hate us for a lot of things. One of the biggest is our freedom of religion. We can be Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, atheist, whatever.

1. When you take the war to the enemy's ground it is a show of a superior army.
2. By doing so you greatly limit there ability to fight else where.
3. If in the case that you were attacked first you will have support from your allies and in the end win or at least prove a point.

I wish it were that easy. Number one war is not logical. Watch the movie "All Quiet on the Western Front" (young German school boys going off to war during I believe WW I it will open your eyes I wished I had watched it before I signed up. To your question. It won't keep our enemies from following us. In fact one of the biggest terrorist attacks happened before 911 when 2 white (color is not an issue because the DC sniper was black) when the building in Oklahoma claimed so many lives when the amonium nitrate in it blew it up. Those were Americans that plotted that terrorist attack and one was a special forces candidate. And for the naieve that don't believe that terrorist organizations or "bombers" (which are different than terrorists) do not pay attention to news like that whether it's here or in the UK. So to others the US and the UK so where they are weak and sadly the enemy attacks the US kamikaze style with large passenger jets killing untold numbers of people and not just Americans. Our staying Iraq or Afghanistan or Kuwait or Germany tries to promise that America will be safe but the more places that we police the thinner we spread ourselves and the more enemies including in Iraq we make. US Army Lieutenant Ehren Watada is in jail and facing more time for standing up against the President with many others in calling this an unjust and immoral war that has claimed many lives of people men and women and civilians that did not have to die. I hope I have helped. I am a fomer Air force cop and with some service in Air Force Special Operations I no longer serve in the military. And I want to see the troops pulled out before Bush gets out of office.
Because if they lose a religious grip hold on their own people, their cause will be lost and they will never have enough credibility to gain it back in the face of real democracy and freedom. They won't be able to recruit new fanatics because the economics of the region will improve, and people won't be desperate for something to change.
So, they have to do everything they can, use all their resources to try to make democracy fail, and make the coalition fail in order to keep what they have and keep their belief system.
If they are doing that, then they don't have enough time or resources to do something like 9/11 again. They are counting on the fact that the American public won't have the will to fight if they keep the fight going on and on. And if they are right, and we pull out of the region, then they will not stop and they will attack the coalition countries on their own turf.
The root of the problem is deeper than political or economic issues. They believe with all of their might that they are righteous in their cause and have justification from GOD for doing what they do.

They hate freedom in regards to what we understand freedom to be. They think everyone has to conform to their belief, or they need to die. They blame our cultural diversity as one of the causes of their problems.
That's what our military does. Some troops may not agree with the war but they are still fighting and yes for OUR freedom. The military IS our first last and only line of defense, and the further away that defense line is the safer WE are.
Yes they do hate our freedom, the freedom we have to make our own decisions, you know the gift of free will. I don't have to walk behind my husband, I don't have to have a man escort me everywhere, I can wear what I want and say what I want without getting tortured, imprisoned or even stoned to death. So yes "they" hate that. I can even vote, drive and go to college. They do not understand our way of life therefore dislike it. Support our troops!

over there it is preventing massive destruction of our inner

into your house and using your family for cover while they
are engaged in battle with our troops. What freedoms to

We would immediately be placed under Marshall Law and
there would be curfews. How about driving to the store
or taking your child to school and hitting a road side bomb.

They do hate us for our freedoms, the biggest freedom
they hate is our freedom of religion, their bible (Koran)
tells them to KILL the infidels, or anyone that is not of
the Muslim faith.
They hate the fact that women have the freedom to vote,
dress as they please, are able to have an abortion, can
divorce their husbands (instead of the other way around)
They hate that we have freedom of speech, we can say
what ever we want without fear of retribution, we can
bash Bush, Clinton, all of the Presidential candidates
or any other person.
They also hate the power of the United States and the UK
we are the two most militarly powerful countries in the world
that fully support freedoms, this is why you see attempt
after attempt to cause as much death and destrution as
they can.
EDIT: 3600 lost troops in Iraq is regrettable, but did you
know that during Vietnam, this was the number of troops
lost in a 1 year period (3,500 per yr average ) this does
not make the 3,600 over 5 years any better but it does
indicate that we have learned to limit our losses.
