I have limited understanding..so tell me what is holding up the immigration bill? Do you think it will pass?

The only thing holding up that bill is the stench emanating from it.
If you are an american citizen you had better pray to God that it does not pass for it will signal the end of life as we know it. The american people are against this bill and our senators know it. If they pass it anyway it will only underscore the fact that they have (in their minds) become masters of the universe. Get ready to dig deep into your pocket because the cost of this bill is around 2.5 trillion dollars.
The American people do not want to give another amnesty that doesn't work.

It won't pass; it was never meant to pass; it is another Bush Administration smokescreen to keep the American people from focusing on the fiascos called Iraq and Afghanistan occupancy.
Heck, no. Grass roots America is speaking up...keeping the heat on the government. The Silent Majority is no longer so silent. It is a BAD bill. Read it, study it. Expand your understanding.
What is holding it up is that the majority of citizens are strongly against the bill as it is written and they are informing their Senators that they better represent the people that elected them or they are out.
the bill has both bi-partisan support and bi-partisan criticizers. There just happens to be more people that oppose it than people that are for it.
I do not think that it will pass.
We the American people (Native Americans, Americans, and Naturalized citizens) are holding up the bill. We have made sure our Senators, and Congress representatives understand that We are against this bill. That they represent us, and America, and they are listening, and taking a stance for us.
And I hope it sinks like a rock if they bring it to the floor again.
What's holding it up is a line in it which would automatically free all those illegal immigrants in custody awaiting deportation for felonies committed here in the U.S.

The other thing it does is offers amnesty not only to people already here legally and to their spouses and children, but allows amnesty to their adult brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, parents, grandparents, and other extended family members which would increase the number of immigrants from the existing 10-15 million to somewhere around 50 million. That's too large a number to absorb so quickly. The effects on social programs would be disastrous and, I'm sorry, I can't afford to pay out another dime in taxes right now.
The bill sucks.
It's a compromise between the Democrats and the Republicans, so there's something that both sides hate. Alot of Republicans think its too soft on the illegal immigrants and would encourage more in. The Democrats seem to be more willing to live with it, despite the fact it's not "Family friendly". There are groups of Democrats against it , but I'm not sure why. Republican's are taking the balk of the blame though.

If the bill passes I am afraid to see the consequences.
It will not pass. One thing that really gets me is saying that the illegals are going to come forward and pay the fines and go back home to apply legally. Why would they? They ignore the laws on the books now so why would they follow a new one?
