Is it possible to register in US birth registry an alien born child of an American Citizen?
Answer:
Some of the others are wrong, just because a child was born outside of the US does not mean that the child is not a US citizen. Both my sister and I were born abroad, but my mother is a US citizen, so we are both US citizens as well. It's called jus sanguinis citizenship (right to citizenship by blood). More than likely you will have to apply at the US embassy or consulate where the child was born for what is called a Certificate of a Citizen Born Abroad (which is the equivalent of a US birth certificate for your child) Be sure to do so soon, as the child gets older, it becomes harder to get approval.
Generally, with one parent as the US citizen, the child acquires citizenship through birth as long as your husband lived in the US for a specified amount of time (usually about 14 years, does not have to be consecutive).
Your child was not born in the US, therefore he/she is NOT a US Citizen, irregardless if he/she was fathered by an American.
www.uscis.gov. Good luck!
I know that it can be done. For instance, one of my brothers, who are all american, became an israeli citizen. his wife is israeli morrocan. they have three children, all born in israel, who became american citizens. My other brother and his wife are both american, became israeli citizens, and had twins in paris. they are both american citizens. you need to prove to the U.S. that one parent is american. Your husband will need to do it. The best best is to contact the american embassy wher eyou are.
I DONT THINK SO SHE HAS TO BE BORN IN THE US IF YOU WANT THE BABY TO BECOME A US CITIZEN YOU WOULD HAVE TO GO TRU A PROCESS.
Contact the US Embassy in Manila. Your child is eligible to get a US Passport. You need to provide the childs birth certificate, your marriage certificate and it would also help that the father is there with you when you are interviewed, unless he is incapacitated.
