Why Do Mexicans Think They Have A Right To Claim America?
Answer:
I understand your logic. Problem is that isn't what many want to promote.
Try using the same logic that they use about several of the states of the United States upon Mexico property rights and all of a sudden the logic changes - as I can see that you already know.
It all boils down to someone wanting something that doesn't belong to them and using any means in an attempt to get their way.
"I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters."
Frank Lloyd Wright (1868-1959)
sour grapes over not being able to hold on to it
good question.
They have been in the sun too long.
I'll agree with the first answer; sour grapes.
For the same reason why Native Americas upen up Casino's that destroy their culture. Its all about the money.
While Mexicans flock to the United States Illegally the heat is started to get turned up. In the past.. they simply said "hey nobody is doing anything why defend my actions"
Well now that things are turning around a bit. Every single group that is against securing our borders is rushing to find legal reason to allow ILLEGAL immigrants.
Its a sad world we live in. But hey.. we still got it good. Now we wait...
They just want to take what they think will better their lives, what they dont understand is that if they did have it, it would still be mexico.
That is the weak argument they use to justify breaking the law.
WTF are YOU talking about?
Everyone has the right to claim America. We are a melting pot of people, right from the very start. What's your heritage? Probably not American. Whatever, that means. We are all a mish mash of different lineage. The only true people who could lay claim are the Native Americans, the rest are just Mutts.
It wasn't "stolen"; it was either purchased or fought over--and the United States won. Get over it.
Now...on to the original question.
Well, they are emotionally preparing themselves for the day when they are the majority population and can then out-vote other ethnic groups. This is simply an effect of the cyclic nature of societies.
Even after becoming the majority, they won't be able to "claim" any portion of the United States because it would violate Federal laws against secession. At that point, the only way to "annex" any portion of the country would be to engage in a war. I highly doubt anyone would want that--they would help ruin the land for which they are fighting.
In conclusion, all that talk about "Aztlan" is "much ado about nothing". Hot air. Balderdash.
It's a conspiracy theory...nothing more.
Wow, you know your history. Mexicans just want to come here to work; they don't want to take over anything. Stop listening to organizations like La Raza. These are a bunch of Union monkeys with nothing better to do. They are also American born citizens, by the way...they make us all look bad.
Yes, and they were living in California, Texas, and other southern states before they were part of the Union. They were here, they crossed the boarder all the time before there was a boarder. Secondly, if you stopped worry about Mexicans coming into this country you could get on with your own life and see what real problems this country has.
Are you African or American? Just like I tell Mexican-Americans, pick a nationality. If you want to be American with African ancestry, I'm fine with that; If you want to be African with American ancestry, then go get your African citizenship and I'm fine with that too. We as Americans can serve but one flag, that of the United States of America, we should speak a common language and that would be English, since before the founding of this country and we should pursue the establishment of a secure homeland, as is necessary in the troubled world today - Secure Our Borders. As for your question, those that seek to claim the USA, or any part of it, belongs to Mexico, need to go to Mexico, because that is obviously where their allegiance lies. I will warn them however, that if they thought the US immigration laws were tough, if they are not a Mexican citizen, Mexico really frowns on illegal immigrants.
Hi my name is Koonta Jones. I seen the movie roots and that tought me that we are all Koontas and are enslaved in our minds...free your mind and live your life in harmony. The past is the past. Let just move forward and learn from our mistakes, even though we (so called minority) are less privalleged than most. By the way Im Mexican... I am the Mexican Koonta Jones...TOOOBY Noooo. KOONTA.Okay TOOBY
mexicans is different than if you talk about indians. all this side of the earth belongs to the indians that were killed off. so if they are still a few they are the right full owners. as for mexico the us did take some land from them as well..
One of the posters, "Kobaincito," is an example. Ignorance, or merely an attempt to cloud the issue. What "half of the United States" did Mexico ever 'own"? The part east of the Mississippi was "owned" by the Indians. The part between the Mississippi and the Rockies was "owned" by France--we purchased it from them (Louisiana Purchase). And the part north of California was variously "owned" by Indians, or Russia, or France.
First, nobody is indigenous to America. Even the ancestors of the American Indian migrated across the Aleutians through what is now Alaska, and Canada. Some migrated farther south into Central and South America. But all human life--probably all animal life--on this continent has descended from immigrants.
Second, the parts of what is now the United States were once claimed by Spain, not Mexico.. The Spanish pretty much obliterated the Mayan civilization. Eventually they took over Central America. Spain sent missionaries up the California coast to establish Missions. Spain seemed to believe that gave them some right of possession and so Spanish land grants were provided to a few who were willing to try to work the new country. These were Spanish land grants, not Mexican. Mexico is no longer part of Spain. They have no reasonable right to claim to anything to which Spain may at one time laid claim.
But illegals (not "Mexicans") don't care about facts. The want to break our laws and be rewarded for it. And they'll use any excuse no matter how irrational, incongruous, or nonsensical, that seems to suit their purpose.
The have nothing else to complain about, and if they ever took over the US, then they would complain about Canada, and take that one over too,,,,like locusts...
You're right. Some people are just ignorant.
okay let me start by saying that mexicans do not claim America, they claim the land that once belonged to them , and yea IT DID BELONG TO THEM, your right when you say Spain was who settled in Cali, Arizona, New Mexico etc. etc. however many mexicans have spanish blood in them therefore making their arguments true. And if you want to get into the fact of stealing land, look at your history and see that you stole land from the ONLY group that can truly be called AMericans and those are the Native Americans who's land was stolen by the ENGLISH who if I am not mistaken are your ancestors so if you want to have a valid argument prove to me you are Native American or have some Native American in you, otherwise yo do not have the right to claim this country as yours either since your ancestors came on the mayflower from ENGLAND. Mexicans crossed a RIVER into what was spanish land,( in case you didnt know the aztecs were under spanish rule and were naturalized as spanish)into what was their land, the english crossed an OCEAN into what was Native American land.
The person above me is an idiot. If she claims the southwest belongs to Mexico, the following is also true... East coast belongs to England... Midwest belongs to France... Alaska belongs to Russia...
They have been taught that the wicked American government stole their land and that they should take it back.
What they are NOT taught is the fact that the US BOUGHT the land for $15 million and that this is America and they have not claim to the south western states. They also seem to forget that it was SPAIN that owned the land.
Another weird thing they are taught is when they confuse "America" with "North America." America is a country. North America is a continent. There is a huge difference.
They live in Mexico but call themselves "Americans" since they live in North America. WRONG! They are Mexicans! The only people that are Americans are the US Citizens. Semantics? Not a chance! Words have very specific meanings in law!
I am married to a mexican immigrant and have many mexican friends (and I am white) and I have never heard any of them lay claim to America. Sure, they are out there, those who think that since part of the land used to be theirs (mexico's), it is still theirs. However, you can't say all Mexican's think the same way - it is no different then any other stereotype out there in the world.
I have no idea...if we Native and part-Native Americans can't have it, NO body gets it! ;)
This is why they think that way:
The myth of Aztlan can best be explained by California's Santa Barbara School District's Chicano Studies textbook, "The Mexican American Heritage" by East Los Angeles high school teacher Carlos Jimenez. On page 84 there is a redrawn map of Mexico and the United States, showing Mexico with a full one-third more territory, all of it taken back from the United States. On page 107, it says "Latinos are now realizing that the power to control Aztlan may once again be in their hands."
Shown are the "repatriated" eight or nine states including Colorado, California, Arizona, Texas, Utah, New Mexico, Oregon and parts of Washington. According to the school text, Mexico is supposed to regain these territories as they rightly belong to the "mythical" homeland of Aztlan. On page 86, it says "...a free-trade agreement...promises...if Mexico is to allow the U.S. to invest in Mexico...then Mexico should...be allowed to freely export...Mexican labor. Obviously this would mean a re-evaluation of the border between the two countries as we know it today." Jimenez's Aztlan myth is further amplified at MEChA club meetings held at Santa Barbara Public Schools..
The book, paid for by American tax payers, cites no references or footnotes, leaving school children totally dependent on their teacher to separate fact from opinion and political propaganda. The book teaches separatism, victimization, nationalism, completely lacks patriotism towards the United States, and promotes an open border policy. The book is 100 percent editorial -- the opinions of the author.
