My brother marrying some jamaican for a passport?
for a passport!!
I told him not to and it is perjury, but he says he needs the money!!
I think he is going to get £1500.00
When I went to registered mine and my fiances wedding, I looked at a notice in the office.. saying something about false information could lead to prosecution.
I told him not to, on the grounds that he will meet a girl and fall in love. I told him all abou the consequenses but he will not listen to me!
I am 24 my brother is 21, what is the worse that can happen.
Sorry if I did not make myself clear, my brother is British and this girl he is marrying wants citizenship in the UK!
I told him that the registar will ask questions to test if they know one another. Again he will not listen to me.
Answer:
There is a possibility that if the mariage is considered suspect, that the familly will be interviewed to determine it's validity.
That means YOU will be put in a position where you will have to lie to the government to protect your brother (and risk a jail sentence) or tell the truth to save yourself (and put your brother in prison).
Your brother should have kept his mouth shut !
he wont be able to do it the home office do stringent tests on this and she will be deported straight back if he fails it
really there is nothing you can do . it happens and he is getting paid alot of money for it! unless you go to the police and report him yourself! i do think it is wrong
You really don't want you to get tracked down by the immigration dept. Anyway , try getting him off it . If it does not work , Just tell him to practice every possible question that could be asked with that girl .
stop the wedding because this is wrong and he will regret it
the home office are trying to clamp down on this but like everything else they are always 1 step behind the criminals. I know people who have done this, it seems to take about 3 years all in alll before they get divorced and he can find the girl of his dreams. he is lucky he is still young and as for prosecution all he has to do is pretend he is doing it for love. How do you prove he is not unless he continues to blab about it to family and friends and the word gets out.
All you can do is try and show him pitfalls, but be real and remind him that once she has her stay there is no gurantee she will pay the rest of the money and he needs to be prepared to run up and down between home office and her home for the next 3 years at least.
Hi, Your brother will regret marrying her, it's not as simple as just getting married and then living apart. They will have to go for interviews, my friend married a Turkish guy and she had to go for interviews to the Home Office in London, and then they regularly were checked on by officials. He will end up in jail if they find out he is lying to them, and then he wont be able to spend the money they are going to give him. You see they are being strict because of bogus applications like the one your brothers future "wife" is doing. She will not get a British Passport straight away it takes a couple of years and lots of interviews. You are right to try and stop your brother, She will not be able to marry and then disappear it's not as simple as that.
It's much more difficult nowdays. She'll need a visa or Home Office permission allowing her to marry in the UK. They have to prove the relationship is genuine.
Marrying a British Citizen does not automatically make her a British Citizen, nor give her a settlement visa. If she comes on a spouse visa, your brother has to prove he can financially support her for 2 years. Lots of checks.
The number of these fake marriages have dramatically dropped since the new laws came in a couple of years ago and a good thing too.
what !! only 1500 pounds ??! I think he needs to charge more. way more. : )
does your brother get to consummate the marriage, getting payed 1.5k and a few shags seems like easy money to me,especially as she probably has a husband back in Jamaica with him paying you to do it, man that's cool,
Lucky MAN !! WOW. "Jah" people ! I wish him all the very best and her too ! I do pity her going to live in UK but will she bring some reggae and great Jamaican spirit with her ? I am sure she will ! He should be paying her. I have some absolutely great Jamaican and Surinamese friends man. And my best male friend is a Ghana /Jamaican who is a fantastic guy ! Get your brother to encourage more to follow this idea. Jamaican people are awesome. I have a UK passport and just may persue the same scene myself now you have woken me up to it !
Thanks heaps man !
(by the way what's a "genuine" marriage ? a fat wife in a tracksuit ,a load of fat scruffy anti social kids and a 4 wheel drive on a bank loan?)
I was an American marrying a UK girl about 10+ years ago. I got an entrance visa to the UK which means I could stay 6 months and then had to leave or be married.
At the airport, I had to spend about 10-15 minutes talking to someone about our relationship; my gf at the time had to talk to someone also. It was pretty impressive security and I was an American !
Here in America anyone can get licensed for marriage at the courthouse - they don't ask you anything! I was just there several weeks ago getting ready to be married again and my gf is from the middle east! They asked nothing! The courthouse is flooded with people primarily from Central and South America.
So, IMHO, the tough part is getting into the country with the marriage VISA - once you are in, the marriage part is EZ as chewing gum.
PS) In other words, the only security is at the border, thank the lord you folks live on an island!
My son married a girl from eastern Europe who only wanted US gr een card but stupid him, he thought she loved him. After only being in the states for 2 months, she called the police on him and got him arrested for abuse (Not true, was thrown out of court). The bayliff at the courthouse said that happens all of the time because alot of this women just want the papers and if they say that they were abused then the INS will not send them back to their old countries.Your brother is asking for some sort of trouble. If he still is going through with it,maybe he should marry someone who will at least pay him more.He will need the cash if she pulls something for his lawyer fees! Good luck.
as a lot of the people here are saying it is not as simple as you think. check ukvisas website. also he is being ripped off, £1 500 is peanuts. You should be looking to charge anything between, £5 000 2 £10 000. Also she will have to wait anything up to 10 years to become a citizean and own a British passport. I will say again it is not as easy as your bro thinks. Many genuine marriages, with two people that really love each other are not given entry to the UK.
Just let him do all what he wants! That's it! You can't really stop him,can you?
am i right?
Please go on your knees and pray for your brother. Yes its tough out there but the Lord will find away to answer his deperate prayers. Later, he will realize that he cannot live with this girl and what will happen? Besides, if she doesn't genuinelt love him, she willl cheat thus Adultery in their Marraige.
Take care Sis, we love u all so much, PATIE.
Well it's his life, not yours but tell your brother that he is the most stupid guy in the world. For a fake marriage people charge at least £10 000.
Once I had a case of a woman who had paid £8000 in advanced and after the marriage £ 900 a month for 3 years
She will get caught and she will be fined, maybe jailed, and then deported.
She and your brother are going into this with intent so really deserve everything they get.
As a British citizen you should report them both. Your allegiance is to your country and you should not be complicit in such a scam.
