What would happen if America built a wall on the Mexican border and started enforcing laws against employers?
And when they got to Mexico, they overthrew the corrupt government that has been simultaneously teaching them to hate America and encouraging them to come to America, in order to prop up their kleptocracy by sending away the best and brightest who then send back money which helps support the corrupt government?
And since the only difference between a prosperous America and a poverty-stricken Mexico is the government, what if Mexico went on to explode into the First World from desperate poverty and became a superpower and joined America in its mission to make the world safe and lift everyone in the world out of poverty by spreading good government, and that ended up ending poverty and the threat of nuclear proliferation.
Would that prove that fences make good neighbors?
Answer:
You should really take a chicano studies class, then you will understand why Mexicans are angry with the U.S.A and you would understand the historical patterns of immigration..
We could give them arms and rations, but you can't 'give' them the passion and the desire to pull themselves up and see something through to the end.
First the wall will never be done, do not day dream that's a very stupid idea. Second, if there was one, the next day will go down and no matter what is done, immigration issue will never end.
It would be perfect, but so unrealistic. Big business wants cheap labor, (Swift meat plants here, Hershey's moving to Mexico), the President wants a global economy and open boarders, and the Mexican government knows it.
The cost of produce and ultimately, all goods would increase in price.
Inflation would be rampant.
Cons are known to want to keep the status quo; why do they want to rock the boat so much on this issue?
One thing you'd have is a bunch of liberals running around screaming and crying for about two weeks, in fear of the sky falling. Then the freeways would get a bit less crowded, prices of produce would go up a little bit, and we'd all be better off without the Great Illegal Immigrant Suction destroying our social welfare system.
This contention or whatever it is, is flawed on so many levels I don't know where to start but in short, yes it would prove that fences make good neighbors...It's an idea who's time has come.
1. Walls have never stopped people from crossing borders. The Chinese built a huge wall to keep nomads from invading their country. The nomads rode around or climbed over the wall. The border between East and West Germany was heavily fortified with walls, barbed wire, and machine gun towers. People escaping the communist regime of East Germany still found ways to get through the border. People sneaking across the Mexican-American border would probably find many clever ways to get around any walls or fences.
2. American companies circumvent US laws in many ways. If they can hide illegal transactions from IRS tax auditors they can find ways to keep inspectors from finding illegal alien employees including hiring them under the table so they don't show up on pay rolls and bribing inspectors to either look the other way or announcing inspections in advance so that illegal employees stay away from work on the day of the inspection.
3. It must be nice to live in your elaborate fantasy world.
Then the Mexicans would have a choice to make. IF they made the right choice...
then the world would be a much better place. Drugs, gangs, pollution, overcrowding, poverty, poor education, and animosity would be dealt a huge setback in North America.
or they could continue to go with the status quo and live like they have since the Spanish invasion of their country.
You thought about this for a while huh well if this happened Mexico would be in a civil war and other countries tend to get involved with those for there own reasons and usually the conflict doesn't just go away for awhile and can be very bloody. French, Russian, Vietnam, etc. but still blood bath which many people. Plus you are only asking a what if a lot could happen I mean look at the cold war every body that it would end with nukes killing everybody over 60 times but in the end no it didn't.
I'm against building a fence along the Mexican border. I would much prefer that we build a fence along the southern U.S. border, same thing, sounds better though.
Soon you will be paying a lot for fruits, vegetables, landscaping and other things that will justhighly increase in price.
