Exactly! I know we are hispanic and all, but we live in the USA. We are showing too much Mexican Pride. If we love Mexico so much, why are we not over living over there? I mean, I am not saying to forget where we come from, but lets use a little more common sense. If we start chanting Mexico and raising Mexican flags in the USA (where we make our money), what the heck are others gonna think? My parents are from Mexico and they are proud to be US citizens. They love Mexico and all, just to go for vacation though. They are not going around with MEXICO tagged on their forehead. They are proud Americans as am I. We need to calm down and not scare people. The USA is giving people opportunities.

One of my best friends in the WI. National Guard was from L.A. originally, he was of Hispanic Mexican decent, 2nd generation, legal. So I have no problem with Mexicans. However, I have seen that the machismo thing gets out of hand, and of my Puerto Rican, and Ecuadorian friends, Mexicans are considered to be low-class Hispanics.
Many of them think they are better than other Hispanics and especially Whites in the states.
That is part of the problem with the illegal Mexicans, they come here believing they are better and we are bad, and many legals reinforce this and choose to pick a side, often in favor of race. They refuse to acknowledge any thing to the contrary.
With that view, it is easy to understand why they would claim to be better even after losing. It also explains why many who hated illegals are beginning to hate Mexicans in general, their belief that their race is the best, La Raza is very offensive.

I've always said that the Mexican team SUCKS! I'm mexican but I hate that team ..... they just play becuase they're getting paid ... not because they want to win.
I couldn't tell if those comments are true because I don't have proof of it . but after all, it's just a frekkin game. What about all those parents who are at their childrens baseball or basketball games that yell out a load of things kids aren't even suppose to be hearing at that age?

If the mexican team is the #1 TO THEM, well that's their choice. I'm a HUGE fan of the lakers and even if the lose, they're still # 1 to me. does that mean that the lakers are above every other team ?. even if I though that the lakers are better than other teams .. that's MY OPINION ... and I think I'm entitled to it .. that just tells you that I'm sticking with them no matter what and that I'm loyal to them. I hate other basketball teams but that doesn't make me arrogant! You're mixing one issue with another . they have nothing to do with eachother.

Maybe you should try rephrasing your question. Would you like for me to repeat it to you .? I don't see anything here that says "most mexicans" it generalizes that Mexicans or Hispanics are arrogant---- and even if you say "most" that's offensive.. you're going to judge a whole group of people for the comments that some idiots made? I know they are very rude . and they shouldn't have said those things .. but you shouldn't judge everyone for a group of other people's ingorance!
Now getting back into this whole issue about if they deserve to be trated like americans, if they can prove to be loyal to this country, why not? I think you and I can agree on that. But I don't think they should stop liking a foreign team just becuse they moved to a new country.

As far as migrating here, it is still better to be oppressed here than in countries targeted by the US for exploitation. Mexican citizens do NOT leave their country because they no longer love it, they just need a paycheck.
The US has historically ruined the economies of many countries, especially in Latin America. We have even supported murderous dictators over democratically elected Presidents. We've stolen lands from Mexico and then blamed the Mexicans for it! We then wonder "Why do THEY hate us?", when "they" is most of the world.
I have met, worked and lived amongst mexicans and not all are bad, but I don't support any of them (the nice ones included) coming here, or for that matter, coming here illegally. I respect and admire the people who came through Ellis Island in New York, that took the time and money to come legally, learn english and establish themselves as American (and taxpaying) citizens. At the same time, they are proud of there native country and have not forgot who they are and where they came from.
I dislike the hispanic folks for giving up on their native countries and coming over and burdening us. I despise them demanding equal treatment and talking about constitutional rights, and they are not even citizens! I thought the constitution was for citizens, not somebody here illegally, but claiming to be a citizen!
I don't like the way Mexicans are putting americans out of jobs, and yes they are putting us out of work, along with driving down our wages! I think if they are willing to work for less, let them, but don't expect everybody else who is not hispanic to be okay with it.
I think hispanic or Mexican people run down neighborhoods. With their weekend parties that last all night, to the junked cars parked in the yard they keep trying to fix, to their loud bolero music they love blasting all hours of the morning, to the 50 folks they have living in a 3 bedroom house, nobody wants to live next to folks like that and it depreicates a neighborhood real fast.
On a personal note, I work in a warehouse type setting and majority of the employees are hispanic origin, I say about 85% is African, 10% is hispanic, and the last 5 are african american. Let me tell that the hispanics I work with are some of the rudest and selfish folks I have ever seen in my life. They will step on your toes and keep walking, they treat the handful of americans like we are beneath them and they don't even try to be friendly toward you. The africans are just as bad if not worse.
They are from Congo, Nigeria, and different parts of Africa, but they don't even recognize the black americans as african/ black. They treatus coldy and don't have much to do with us. They hang amongst themselves and talk with the hispanics, the black americans on the job are like outcast.
It people like that who the borders should be closed to. Those folks are slfish and only come to the U.S not in the U.S best interest, but in their best intrest and they use the U.S to get what they want then they go back home and say to hell with us. Most of them speak little english and they don't want to speak anymore than they do. They don't care about americans, only what they can get out of us.
That is my opinion of hispanic and mexicans, and most other immigrants. Thanks for letting me vent...

I do not support deportation of LEGAL immigrants (unless they commit crimes) I know many, none are arrogant. They do voice pride in the US, but pride is not arrogance.

I think Hispanics are from Spain. The Spanish people consider it offensive for any other groups to call themselves hispanic and have for centuries. It is arrogance to use the term when not a citizen of Spain.
Now that said, the behavior at the sports event is typical of the behavior seen here in the US by some US nationals of Mexican descent and by illegal aliens. LA RAZA promotes this behavior. LA RAZA funds over 50 charter schools in the US which teach Mexican superiority and encourage children not to assimilate into the US. That is more evidence of their arrogance.
The protests, flag-burning, promotion of mythical Aztlan while on US soil is arrogance to the point of total offensiveness.

Wow Im Glad someone brought this up. I am a hispanic american born and raised in Virginia. and I did see the game which i am glad The U.S Well deserved. But its true. I think the mexican ( not only mexicans) Should get over them selves for being so arrogant. There is no better country, and Mexico will never overpower the U.S. Thats something i would sooo like to. But this is something that will never change. But Mexico isnt better than team in the world. Besides they have never won the world cup and they call themselves Champions.
People are too touchy and especially in the immigration section. It's acceptable to generalize when you talk about culture and I am angry at those who attack people for precieve racism. If we want to end racism we need to understand each other and if we try to quiet people for saying something we don't like we can't talk out our differences and discuss our fears to aleviate them. Besides all people are bias and so an individual may not be the best judge of racism.
Arrogance among the Hispanic/immigrant is the source of why so many are against illegal immigration. They don't seem to understand how wrong it is for them to come to a new country and insist that we bend over backwards for their culture and language. I can't believe how upset some get when Mexico lose in soccer. It's just a game , but then again America isn't much better. I'm from LA and the Hispanic population is fractured, but there is a growing community that's like how you describe. I think the problem is that the bad Hispanics are drowning out the good ones. You could see that in the answers you get.
I think the problem here is several fold. The first is that the recent wave of Mexicans are from the poor part of Mexico, and are heavily opressed at home. There is a lot of low esteem problem from their treatment, and Machismo magnify it. They also lack Schooling like their cosmopolitan cousins. They come to the US and expect that all their problem will disappear, and find it's only a little better. Because the rich in Mexico are lighter skin, they put connections between Americans and the rich in Mexico and carryover the past abuse from Mexico over here. THe rich and racist from here like to hire them because they know they can abuse them and they add to the resentment. The Hispanic numbe has grown so much that they do not need to assimilate in America anymore, and rather than joining our community, they are further segregating from it, causing strife. I think teh stark difference in pay and life style between the average Mexican and the rest of our country is also causing the problem. They don't seem to realize it takes time for their community to move up economically and that because immigrants from Mexico keep coming in ,that it's hard to bring up the entire community to the level of rest of AMerica. Because they are poor it becomes an Us against them Mentality and resent everything American. They don't seem to realize that Hispanics are slowly moving up in society, adn many small businesses are elevating their community. They don't see what other Minority groups go through and they have to go through the same. THe Irish, Jews, CHinese and Italians all went through and became successful and our now accepted to a degree.
I hope you return to this section, because we need poeple to prove that not all hispanics act as how you describe, but you should be prepared that this part of Y!A is a bit rough, and insults are quite frequent.
I want to add you do notice the us against them attitude here, that even if you look Hispanics they catagorize you as not being one. I think it's absurd that tehy attack you for generalizing, but then they turn around and generalize expecting all Hispanics to think a certain way.
Every culture has bad people, don't signal one out until you face them all.

The government is not something to mess with. They should look at how their country would treat an illegal over there, (which is way worse than here) and they should really think about what they are doing.
