I wrote this to my Congress reps., and I would like to know, does anyone else share my concerns on this issue?

Rather than type it here, you can read the full script of my letter on my blog. Here is the address: http://mistersnuggles.blogspot.com/2007/...

Thank you.

Answer:
You've brought up some good points, and I think the most important one is that we need to look at our whole immigration process, not just the illegals. Over the past decade, LEGAL immigration has become a nightmare, and this may be one of the factors that is driving illegal immigration to the heights that it is today. Furthermore, there are probably more than a few people who have become illegal while waiting for a response (any response) on their application for legal immigration. If they had been denied legal status, and refused to leave, that would be one thing. But the most common problem related to visa overstays seems to be people who are fully expecting their papers, have been assured that they will get them, and then it just never happens.

So, I agree with some of the other answerers, we can't simply grant amnesty to all illegals. On the other hand, we have a lot of work to do to fix our system for processing legal immigrants. Simply put, the system is utterly and irretrievably broken, and we need a new president who takes it seriously to fix it.
I hear you to say tht you are in favor of rewarding an illegal act. I want amnesty for illegal acts I want to commit. Are you for that also?

Why is it that this group of law breakers should be exempt but an US citizen and a Vet has to obey the laws.

Glad that it is your opinion, and I am entitled to mine. it would appear, from recent polls, that my opinion is in the majority. Good luck with your effort to legalize the law breakers.
NO, most Americans disagree with you.

Anyone in favor of criminals can't be right.

Anyone that will waste this much time on criminals instead of helping their fellow Americans has their priorities messed up.
I dont.

First of all, you claim that illegals will pay for their legal expenses. Actually, under the failed Amnesty bill, TAXPAYERS, like myself, will pay for the legal fee's of immigrants.

You claim that "virtually all" immigrants are working at or below minimum wage. That is an outright lie. Most are working in the service or construction industry, making 7-20 bucks an hour. JOBS THAT AMERICANS WANT.

Believe me, there is no shortage of Americans that want to hang drywall, paint houses, lay tile, and do all kinds of other construction work. Same goes for the service industry, but they are on the lower end of that pay scale.

They are Mexican Invaders. The Mexican Government has programs in place to help them invade America. There should be no amnesty. There should be a wall keeping them out (just like the one China built), and we should start working on encouraging them to go home... which they will do if they cant find a job. Criminals (such as the 30,000 gang members) should be deported immediately... not given amnesty.

Temporary work visas are ok... it should be a lottery, and we should ensure they make it back home when the picking season is over.

I dont understand why we have become a country that rewards people for breaking the law, yet people who do the right thing get screwed every time.

Regan put it best: "A nation that cant control its own borders is not a nation"
Agree 100%
No I don't support globalization such as the EU or a North American Union. I think countries should maintain their own borders.
One world government is a pox on society.
Brits..how are you liking the EU??
If your comments are meant to increase immigration through legal means I'm all for it. If, as it appears to me based on your blog that you wish to reward people in this Country illegally, then I must vehemently disagree. The strain on our Socio-economic system by those here illegally that abuse the system has reached a breaking point. We've had 86 hospital closures in the border states due to bankruptcy just for starters. Some areas no longer have a local level 1 trauma center. That results in Americans dying. I find the toll that illegals bring with them unacceptable.
I respect your view, and I especially respect that you are willing to put your name and address in the open when so many on both sides use anonimity to rant safetly. Yes, Jesse J. Woof is my actual name.
I do feel that while you are wrong, you wrote in an educated manner and showed your thoughts clearly.
For years people have managed to sneak into our country illegally for various reasons, and they all have an excuse of some sort. But, that being said, many people with the same excuses have gone through the process and came here legally.
After suffering the same hardships as the illegals, plus the hardships of dealing with a sometimes reclariant and difficult beurocrocy, they still came and contributed.
Why should people who came from the same place and same problems get breaks they didn't? Why should people who didn't prove their right to be here be treated better than them?
Most everyone knows the saying "ignorance of the law is no excuse." So how can anyone find a valid excuse for intentional violation of the law.
Pro-im's try to cry to human mercy and decency, these illegals come from the same place and conditions as many legals, and they are looking for forgivness. The legals come knowing that they must prove their worth, not trying to demand their rights.
You wrote a very well written letter, and it shows thought; however, in my opinion, I think you need to look at this with a different viewpoint, one not of fairness to lawbreakers but of fairness to the born citizens and the legal immigrants who have earned their place.
let's see...Senator complained that they couldn't make outgoing calls yesterday because AMERICA DID NOT WANT ANY FORM OF AMNESTY.I think that made a bold statement since alot admited the people were heard
