Is anyone else worried that we are losing what is good about our country due to the huge influx of people...?
We are having to forget what has been in our culture for 100s of years to keep everyone happy, and our cities don't even seem to be English anymore! I'm not saying that every foreigner is bad, far from it, we need some to come here, but we must have a limit?
And, btw, would you agree that if someone who came here and seeked asylum here were to breadk ANY British law, they should be sent home, for a crime from stealing a tin of tuna to murder?

If you had americans, canadians and australians migrating to UK will you complain No! Some countries have got alot of british immigrants. In south africa how do you think the whites got there or those in other parts of southern africa?
If you want criminals deported, what about british people abroad who committ crimes, especially those in spain or holiday resorts? sounds like you feel you are better than other nationalities or double standards.
I will rather have someone who steals a tin of tuna around than some ignorant person who feels they are different and is a binge drinker with no manners or respect for others or towards other cultures.

Ever heard that old expression "too much of a good thing is actually bad for you"? Immigration is what made this country what it "was". The tough requirements to gain citizenship, the commitment of immigrants to learn the language, history and culture were critical elements of the success we enjoyed having immigrants come to this country. Like anything else, our get something for nothing mentality has made it to Washington DC. These policiticians do not have a clue about the burden they are placing on the American people when they produce immigration laws like the last one proposed. Lets face it, we are speaking specifically here about Mexicans, not other countries who population applies for immigrant status. Only Mexico ignores our laws, (as do we as Americans) comes anyway and jeopardizes the very culture and mores that have made us great. Go to Mexico as an American citizen and you will be welcomed, providing you get no citizenship, and do not work. Go to work illegally there and you will end up in jail. Yet, these same people want us to embrace millions of their law breaking citizens in this country. Do you think the good one's flocked here illegally, NO. Many have applied legally and stand to lose their opportunity because of those who came outside the process. Yes sir, I agree with you 100%.

yes i am worried! Many ppl (mostly ppl from Mexico) sneak into our country and most of them co mitt crimes and sell drugs! They dint come here to work they come here to sit around and make US pay for their children and pay for there food! that may sound like were helping them out but we are in a bad way!!!!!! WE work hard for them and make more money so they can sit around and expect us to pay for everything they have!! If ppl want to come to America they should work for a living and get a nice job and pay for their own things! They should try to be an American not an illegal immigrant who sits around and does nothing!!!
100s of years? id love to see where your ancestors come from mate, england has been invaded, colonised and populated by most of the world at some point or another - especially europeans.
i work in a recruitment agency and see all nationalities walk through our doors, some of them re-enforce the stereotypes but most people are fantastic additions to our great country,
the only thing that you realise when dealing with these people is that the native people are much lazier and more unreliable, this is not just for minimum wage stuff either.
these additions to our gene pool can lead to nothing but good for our country. id rather have fresh water than a stagnant pond

I think we have been so watered down and poinsoned by multiculturalism and the PC brigade no one knows what they stand for now.
I agree that someone here at the grace of our kindness should be sent home for breaking laws. However the changes to the country are timely, we had become very culturally isolated, even from our immediate neighbours of France, Holland and Belgium. Our behviour abroad, which is still true to certain extent and amongst a certain class of people, is still in need of changing. Travelling to Spain and Greece and then creating the high rise low quality blocks of South and East London, populating the streets with English, Irish etc Pubs serving only English food and beer seems a very strange concept to me but this is a symptom of the thoughts that you are having. True multi-culturalism can only improve our country in my opinion. I went to a traditional summer fete at the school where I work and went to the tea-tent and an Afghan student (monitored by an English member of staff) was serving the tea and an African parent had made the traditional sponge cakes, there was a Caribbean food stall that was manned by a girl of African heritage and a girl of European heritage. The Army cadets, that did some displays of their skills, included children of nearly every ethnic group, as did the Territorial Army display team. The Gospel Choir included a Portuguese girl, several English girls and a few Eastern European girls and a Polish boy on guitar. This multi-culturalism is an important part of our country now and needs to be embraced. At the same time we must value and continue to uphold the Englishness of England.

Immigration is great! Without immigration the USA would have a negative population growth, our economy would slow, and many peoples quality of life would diminish.
The "huge influx of people" you are talking about are invaders, not immigrants. They violated an internationally recognized border of a sovereign nation without authority. These are criminals, not immigrants.
As far as our cities not seeming "English", I can only assume that you are in the UK. My rant is about the USA, but obviously we are not alone on immigration problems.
The USA and obviously the UK are among the places in the world that many other cultures flock to because of the freedoms we enjoy. THere are other countries such as Canada, Australia and Israel where freedom and rights of citizens guide the government, and that gives us a certain sense of responsibility to help those who have faced persecution and faced execution or long incarcerations because they were trying to obtain what we have.
As far as sending them home, for committing a crime, if they are in your country as a matter of assylum, then no, prosecute them as you would any citizen and hold them accountable to your laws; if they are there through the graces of a temporary visa status, weigh the crime and the criminal history, if this person has demonstrated a lack of ability to conform to your laws and live by the standards of his host country, ya send him packing, if he gets a speeding ticket or minor infractions of that nature and is held accountable and pays his fines or community service or whatever, show him the same lieniency you would hope to be extended to you when traveling abroad; if the person is in the country illegally, prosecute them to the fullest extent of your immigration laws and whatever civil and criminal laws they violated and then deport them.
From what I have seen its not people who move to the UK that bring it down, it's the narrow minded bigots that always complain. England is a great place, we just need to get rid of bigots, racists and cynics. Why don't you all head off somewhere else? Leave England to those of us who want to be here and are open minded enough to accept others.

I love the point you make about Cities not being English anymore. AT what point have you failed to realise that Britain is an Island and therefore most of the poeple that make up Britain have come to this Island from somewhere else.

Many didn't catch on that you were writing about England and answered from the points of view of those in the United States.
Thing is that the problems that both countries are facing are very similar with the same negative results if the problems are not addressed.
I wish you well on your side of the pond as you fight for sanity within your country as people on this side are fighting as well. I hope both of sides of the pond get the problems addressed because of the massive influx of people within both our countries.
People can continue to turn a blind eye to the problems - but it sure is strange how their view changes when it starts to have a negative effect upon them and their lifestyle. Because of this, rest assured that more are coming around to the view you point out and it is going to be addressed if those in power want to continue in office.
