Personally, I don't believe an illegal immigrant deserves amnesty from any country, whether that country is the UK, the USA, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, or Mexico.
People who choose to live in a country other than the one they are a legal citizen of, need to be held accountable for acquiring legal citizenship in one country. Children born to military personnel in another country do have the privilege of choosing their citizenship at the age of 15 or 16. The parents do not have the privilage of choosing the country they are citizens of. I have a granddaughter who was born of military parents stationed in Germany. She has dual citizenship; but, at the age of 15 or 16, she/her parents will have to choose her country of citizenship.
Should an illegal immigrant give birth in a country other than their citizenry, the child may be considered a legal resident of that country, but not the parents. Send the illegal parents back to their legal residency; keep the child and place him/her with the state.
From my reading and investigation, there are more illegal immigrants in the UK than the USA. Two years ago, my daughter, who is a U.S. citizen, married a man who is a citizen of the UK She was denied a visitor's entry into the UK to spend a month with her then-to-be husband by a custom's official who said he didn't believe she was just coming to visit. He believed her intention was to come into the UK and not return to the U.S. She was interrogated and her Passport was confiscated. She was allowed to stay in the UK for one week, at which time she was required to report to UK officials to regain her Passport and return to the U.S.
My daughter had to travel to Los Angeles to obtain credentials allowing her to enter the UK again. Her boyfriend had to send his birth certificate, Passport, financial statements, and a letter of intent to marry her in order for her to get back into the UK.
My daughter was born in America, was the valedictorian of her high school graduating glass, graduated summa *** laude from college, with a degree in Accounting, obtained her CPA, was employed by The Stars and Stripes military publication as an Accounting Specialist, and the UK questions her entry into their country yet welcomes illegal Pakistanis, Africans, Iranis, Iraquis, and other illegals.
Politicians, legal organizations, teacher's unions, or any other entity promoting amnesty of illegal immigrants will not be getting my support, and I will speak against amnesty at every opportunity, even if it's just in the check-out line at the grocery store!
Sure there should be an amnesty, send them to live in all the rich areas too.

I think it's quite a good idea actually. If all illegal immigrants were made legal, well they wouldn't be illegal any more so that would be good. But there should be more to it, e.g. they would not be able to claim any sort of benefits unless they have worked for like 5 years or so and if they had kids during that time, they would not be allowed to claim any child benefits either, maybe only if they're working. And they should all go through tests of English language - those who won't pass will get sent back.
Asylum seekers should be sent to work in factories and food processing and similar, to do the lowest jobs possible in exchange of free accomodation. And after that, rules should be made stricter and no more people allowed in the country. It could happen, only if somebody could be bothered to do some hard work.
