I think that if you want to live in America then you have to learn English. It is just the language that everyone knows, and without it, you might as well stay out because your not going to be successful, just taken advantage of. I'm not being prejudice or racist, I also think if you want to move to China you should learn Chinese and so on. Its just common sense.

This country is an English speaking country regardless of the taco invasion and the ill excuse of "We moved the border." We won the war get use to it. Their disrespect and non-loyalty for this country shows daily in their actions or lack of actions. Coming across the border illegally to begin with shows their disrespect for our laws etc. We are not the care takers of the world. El Presidente Foxx has received millions from this country. He needs to take it out of his pocket and give it to the people of Mexico. Refusal to learn English adds confirmation to my conclusions.
How do you like them waltzing in here, getting all the benefits of our social systems and not paying a penny? How about Social Security? Not a penny in but if 65 will get a check from the hard earned money you have to put into it.
100% agree with that, when in Rome speak as the locals do that should apply in the USA as well.
I have to say this nation has never had an official language law and it seems to have worked for over 200 years.
Right now we have a lower percentage of people in this nation speaking another primary language than we did in 1900.
If you want to look at the problems with having the language police running around look at Quebec. There is a government agency in the province assigned to enforce its strict French language preference laws.
Yes, English should be the "National Language". All official documents should be in English only. It is one thing that binds this nation together. It is not unreasonable or "racist".
If you check the link below, you will see that if you want emigrate to Mexico, you need to fill out the forms in Spanish. They have removed the Handbook of Mexican immigration laws that you are required to be familiar with, it is only available in Spanish.
A couple years back, my grandfather suffered a severe stroke. He died a couple months later, but in between the time that he had the stroke and the time that he died, he would only speak French and would not acknowledge you if you spoke anything else. He was born in France but legally immigrated here to the US with my great-grandparents when he was 7. It's like his stroke hit the part of his brain that knew English.
He was pretty pissed at us grandkids for having such crappy French.
Another story. Young Japenese immigrants. After they gain citezenship, they bring her mother here to live with them. Since they are legal and she is very old, she get a hardship visa to live here with her daughter, son-in-law and grandaughters. I think most people would agree that it is perfectly acceptable for an elderly parent to come live with their legal children so long as all the documents have been filled out. One of the little girls gets sick, grandma cares for her, but the prescription bottles are in English and she only reads Japenese. Grandma gets some prescriptios confused, gives the little girl medicine that was meant for her father and the little girl ends up in PICU (pediatric ICU).
Long story short...what would have happened to my grandfather in an Enlish-only country? Would there have been translators to come for us? Would you have suggested some penalty for an old man because he couldn't speak English anymore? What about the girl? English only! English only! But at what cost? What the hell is wrong with people? Show a little compassion for crissakes! You are sacrificing the lives of people for an unattainble ideal. Get over yourself.
I think people have a right to speak any language they choose. Just because you don't hear them speaking English doesn't mean they can't. Whats next? Telling people they can only wear certain colors on certain days?
