How long does an American Citizen need to reside in Canada to qualify for citizenship?

I would like to know how many years it would take a U.S. Citizen before he/she could qualify for Canadian citizenship? I have heard that U.S. citizens usually have a faster track (1-2 years) to apply for citizenship than other nationalities.

Answer:
An American has to live in Canada 3 out of the last 4 years to be eligible for citizenship. It's the same for any other immigrants. Americans do NOT have a faster track to apply for Canadian citizenship.
Good Luck!
For others immigrants is 3 years, at least.(3 to 5 to be more precisely) For US Citizens I think its the same. They don't have 2 immigration laws, one for U.S. and one for others, perhaps some advantages .
