My Canadian passport has expired can I travel by air within the US? I'm a permanent resident in here in the US

Answer:
If you are a permanent resident, then you have your Permanent Residency card (also known as your "green card). This card is just like an American passport. You can use it to enter the United States at the borders IF it is still current and valid. You are processed through the borders just as a normal American citizen is. However, at the borders, you may need to present your original passport as well. There may be certain residency restrictions on your travel outside of the U.S. and some effects on your application for naturalization in the future. You need to further research the restrictions and requirements before you travel outside of the U.S. Go to the USCIS website for help.

Because your Permanent Residency card ("green card") is like an American passport, it also allows you to travel within the United States without any problems. Again, you could go to the USCIS website for help.
If you're a permanent resident in the U.S., you shouldn't need your passport to travel in the U.S. You won't be able to use it as picture i.d., so you will need a driver's license or some other picture i.d.
Yes, you can for the time being. But soon, passports will be required for air travel between Mexico, the USA and Canada.
As long as you have identification that shows your permanent resident status you should have no problem. If you leave, to visit in Canada for example, and try to return you'll have a problem.
OR nurse, flying domestic does not need a passport. One government issued ID with picture and signature will suffice. Your PR card is good. Did you know that you can use your PR card to enter Canada and re-enter the US BY LAND until July 2008?**
