Why don't immigrants sign the papers to be here legally and get it over with?
Answer:
They can commit crimes and not have to deal with it. When they are given a court date they just don't show up because there is no record they were ever here. Or they can order somethign and not pay the same way. They get free health care that way also.
They're too lazy.
Its not that easy , dear . But your innocence is refreshing .
they dont want to take the test
it not as easy as just signin papers and many people need the money to help their families right away
I feel like the aflac duck on this question. "Whaaaa......?
some of them have some type of criminal activity (some that are not a big deal) on their record and if immigration finds out they can be deported anyway so being here illegally they have nothing to loose its all the same
Talk to any mexican american and they will tell you with pride that their grandfather was illegal etc.....Illegal immigration is like a badge of honor to many mexicans.
because then they would have to pay taxes and doctor bills and ... but before that they would have to study and become United States citizens. The way they do it now... they can work for cash and no one knows anything about them.
It is not that easy.
You don't know enough about the process.
I'll tell you this much:
They will gladly sign if someone would give them the paper, but no one is.
They pay lawyers who steal their money and give them bogus green cards and the INS makes it very very hard to qualify.
It is far more complex than that. First, they have to learn to speak English, which most of them do not know, and it is about a 5 year process. It also cost money, which they do not have, otherwise, they would not be here.
Because by law they can not sign those papers unless they came here legally in the first place. They would have to return to their country of origin (and not ALL illegals are Mexican) apply for sponsorship, go through all of that paperwork and get a green card. Also, IF they were here legally their employers would have to pay them a decent wage and report those wages to the IRS...which THEY don't want to do.
If it was that easy every person would be happy to do it. It is not like that though, there is the time and money that people just don't have!
First you must demonstrate βan understanding of the English language, including an ability to read, write, and speak...simple words and phrases...in ordinary usage in the English language....β. Second, you must be able to demonstrate βa knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of the history, and of the principles and form of government, of the United States....β
To become a LEGAL Landed Pemanet Resident here in the USA it costs approx. $1,200 ( US ) plus all the forms and medical and the condtions you must meet.
Think about it for a minute most Mexicans come here because they want to provide for the famalies and want to have a good standard of living. Most are not fluent in English and as such - you will have a hard getting in. Secondly, most do NOT have the financial means to pay these basic fees nor the FAMILY SUPPORT already here in the USA to sponsor them. The price I quoted is with someone marrying someone from the USA and who is sponsoring their husband / wife to move to the USA. But there are so many details to go into.
1. Lack of money
2. Language ( lack of knowledge of English )
3. Lack of Family Support
That's a very good question, but it seems most before me have answered it correctly. It's much more difficult (and expensive) to come here through legal channels than it is to just sneak in. Our system is set up to reward illegals and punish those who try to do it the right way. The overwhelming number of illegal immigrants has made it much harder for people to come in legally, because the number of newcomers we welcome depends on society's needs at the time. If unemployment is high and the population too dense, then more applications are summarily rejected.
Also, as some have pointed out, one must have certain skills to offer before they can be accepted. Criminals, deadbeat dads, the illiterate, the old, the very sick, and other such undesirables are rarely, if ever, granted citizenship. Therefore, they find that the only way to get here is to do so illegally.
The rediculous immigration policies in the US make it near to impossible for most people to become citizens even through marriage (where only well-to-do people can sponsor a spouse). There is more money to be made on illegals if they remain illegal.
Its a lengthly process, and they don't want to wait. So, they elect to do it illegally. I agree its the wrong way, but they feel if the do it in mass numbers they will get away with it. Kind of like what Bush wants to do now. Soon we will have more laws protecting the illegals in this country, than we have laws protecting the citizens of this country. Its just a messed up situation!
If it was as easy as "signing a paper" don't you think most would have done it already? It takes time (sometimes years), money (application fees that can be well over $1000) and patience.
They'd rather take the easy way out! Citizens have to pay taxes and actually have to contribute to American society, unlike those damn lazy free-loading mexicans!
1st Mexicans arent the only illegal immigrants and I am not Mexican I just dont like stereotyping or generalizing.
2nd This is an expensive process and lots of immigrants just dont have the money. And it is a long process with no guarantees.
3rd If they came here illegally they generally cannot go through the process of legalizing their immigration.
4th Beginning the process makes the USCIS aware of their location and they are now on the radar.
These are just a few reasons why they dont.
Its nice of you to think that it was so simple but it is not.
Do you have a clue how hard it is for them to do that? Do you not think the biggest majority of them would want to do it in a legal way so they would not have to fear deportation or survival to get here? Do you think they want to leave family and maybe never be able to see them again? If it were that easy to get here the legal way, then we wouldn't see so many illegals. We as Americans need to understand that side also. If the governments could work better together then they might could find a solution. Ask yourself would you stay and not be able to provide okay for yourself or try to have a decent lifestyle. We none can say what we would do unless we have been in that situation. And another thing Mexicans are not the only illegals here, remember that when you are being racist.
