Can I petition for my parents to become US Citizens without them going through the whole process?
Answer:
They must go through the process...and take all the tests. But, it is an amazingly proud moment to see them become naturalized.
no
Thats the way it is. With all the crap about illegal immigrants going on, wouldn't you and your parents like to be eliminated from that stigma?? I say "you" by association, btw. Do it legally, or go back to where you're from, imho.
No, it is challenging and in reality it should be. Becoming a citizen of a new country is a privilege and not something that should be taken lightly. That is why background checks are necessary and some knowledge of the history and government and the English language is required. The application process is about a year, that is short in relation to how long it takes some people to get their green cards. If your parents really value this country and want to show their loyalty by becoming citizens, then it should not be too much for them. If they just want to get citizenship so they can get some other benefit from the US government, then I can see why they would want to get an excuse from the requirements. If that is the case, maybe they should consider moving back to their country.
After 5 years of being a PR they can apply to take the citizenship test and become a citizen. It isn't long in the same sense as becoming a PR to begin with is long.
Sorry but they have to go through the process just like everyone else
As annoying as it is, it just can't be avoided.
