Oh boy it sounds like Mexico has some more law enforcement officers to lock up. It seems when Mexico demands it, Mexico gets it. Too bad that Diplomat doesn't scold his own police officials who are well known for human rights abuse

I think a lot of people say that when it doesn't actually happen. I don't know if this was such a case. If the police did it, they should be reprimanded.

PS I can tell you, living in California, that 'wet back' is not an indiginous term. That comes from Rio Grande areas. California isn't one. I have never heard anyone call anyone that in my life.
I have noticed what appears to be an unofficial policy of profileing of Latino's by the SJPD over the last decade. I will note however that the largest and most active gangs in San Jose are Latino gangs, so it's hard to have a policy of being tough on gangs in San Jose without being hard on Latinos as a result.
I think it's find and appropiate for a Mexican diplomat to call attention to what could be mistreatment of Mexicans in a foreign country. Would we not expect our leaders to voice concern if it seemed like Americans were being unfairly singled out by the police of another country? Even if it proves to be untrue, it's the job of any diplomat to use their influence to protect the people they represent. If we refuse to ignore and blow off foreign diplomats, how can me expect our own diplomats to receive any respect to be able to protect us when we are abroad?
