How easy is it for a newly qualified Nurse to move to the US?
I am soon to be qualified as a UK childrens nurse and I wanted to ask if anyone else has been through the process? How long does it take etc etc.
Thanks
Answer:
i don't think it is too difficult. we have been importing nurses from the phillipines for several years. there are web sites you can go to that help with the process. try www.mobilern.com. beware nurses don't make much money here. you might want to try Canada. best of luck.
Good chance, nurses are in short supply!
Where do you plan on moving to in the US? Better talk to the hospitals and such in that area.
When I lived in Texas (a few years ago) I knew a German lady - she was trained as a nurse in Germany - came to the US and had to train some more and re-certify before she could work. But I do not know if that is a Texas requirement or a US wide requirement - a call across the pond could save you a lot of trouble.
However, as another stated, there is always a need for good nurses - any where - here in the US. I wish you the best.
It shouldnt be that difficult, they are always looking for nurses that know what they are doing in the states.
Make sure your get certified in the state where you plan on working as soon as you can. My moms a nurse and she worked in Indiana, Illinios, and Michigan. She had to be licensed in each state seperately.
Just dont plan on making a ton of money, unfortunately part of the reason that nurses are in such short supply is that the pay sucks.
