Thinking of emigrating to oz?
If we have a sponser out in Oz (if we wait till we are in late 40's) does that mean we would only get a visa for working...could we not apply for perminant residency even if over 49?
Answer:
you will be applying for skilled migration, which as you know is assessed on a points system. If you have a job offer it simply gives you more points and strengthens your application. This is important as you will not get any points based on age.
Skilled migration is not cut off to those over 30, just a little tougher to qualify, thus the importance of gaining as many other points as possible.
You will get permanent residence in Australia the minute your application for skilled migration is accepted, remember, this is a very different kind of visa to a straight work visa.
if you're going, go. by the way, it is permanent. these things matter.
contact the Australian embassy and get all the information you need from them
dont you think that would be the best way to get accurate information
Just playing devil's advocate from personal experience.
Before you emmigrate to another country make sure you are doing it for the right reasons.
I emmigrated but perhaps for the wrong reasons and now miss my little UK village no end.
My mom went to live in oz for a decade, but after all the "stories of wonder" she came back.
Perhaps an irrelevant answer to your question or another angle to it.
I wish you good luck

dont blame you for leaving ... countrys shot at...
I plan to retire in Australia. Although every three months I will have to leave the country, NZ and Fiji are very close and cheap to get to. The US and Australia have a "45" policy... Once you turn 45 your chances of getting a permanent Visa is pretty low. Although its not a Written law, thats the info I recieved from several lawyers in each country. Just remember once you leave the origin country, then its a tough deal getting back. Even though you are skilled, their idea is to bring younger people in to fill the voids they have, so like the US they look at a 25 years of service to consider longevity in their country :) Good luck and great country, but no place is perfect :)
hi you can still get perm residency - your sponsor can sponsor you in on a permanent visa there are 2 types of ENS- it takes longer than the ENS 457 visa i think about 6-8 months you can check out the poms in oz site all the people on there are in the same boat as you but offer great advice! we are about to move to adelaide under the sponsorship visa it takes 4-6 weeks & we can apply for residency after 2 years- good luck in whatever you do!
Go. Enjoy your life, get out of britain. Enjoy other customs and have lots of kids.
Good luck i wish i could go.
