Immigration and copy of citizenship?
I'm going to be sponser for my parents and I'm required to mail copy of citizenship of my brothers and sisters I have in the US to the immigration office. Now, the problem is that my so-called sister doesn't want to give her citizenship's copy since she believes it is illegal to make a copy.
My quesetion is what would be solution. on one hand, this is required to be submitted to the INS and on other hand she says it is not doable.

If you mean naturalization papers, yes, it is illegal to copy them (for obvious reasons). One solution would be for all parties involved to show up in person with the proper papers.
You alone can sponsor based on your documents. No need for your sisters document copies.
I believe it is illegal to make a copy. I became a citizen on 02/13/04. When I applied for a passport, I had to take the citizenship paperwork to the local passport office. They sent it to Washington, I think & I got it back in the mail, with my new passport.
It was scary to let it out of my possession. But I think there is a reference number or something, to allow a replacement to be made (if the original gets lost). Try finding that out & see if it placates your sister.
Sounds like it could be one of two things:
1. She doesn't want her parents here.
2. She doesn't have legal citizenship.
This question comes up a lot, and the answer flies in the face of logic. The certificate says right on it that it's illegal to copy it. However, that is simply no longer true. Obviously, USCIS wouldn't ask for something that was illegal. If they ask for a copy, then send them a copy.
