PR Card and Canada?

It is required to stay in Canada for 730 days during the five year period to retain your status as Permanent Resident of Canada.

However, I understand that there are several ways that you can retain the status without completing these mandatory days. Any one knows?

Answer:
Hi Zack,

My name is George Laczko, I actually work at a Canadian immigration firm. This is true, the only way you do not have to complete the 730 days is by being in the company of a spouse who is a Canadian citizen as long as you are living in the same address.

Also, in certain cases, Citizenship and Immigration Canada will also accept if you are working abroad for a Canadian employer.

The last reason would be is if you have overstayed abroad but for humanitarian grounds and these are looked at on a case by case basis. One example I could give you is if you were looking after your father who was dying in a hospital.

Otherwise, if you have overstayed or about to overstay and you don't fall into any of the categories I'd listed then give my company a call and we could assist you. Call me at 1-416-962-2623 or visit our site at http://www.immigroup.com/permanent_resid... or at http://www.permanent-resident-card.com/...

I hope my advice will help you.

All the best, Zack.
