The law would have to be changed. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'm the type of person who would to anything to help someone else who needs it, but I'm not sure that it is fair that illegal immigrants already in America should be allowed to become citizens? I am really sorry that they have gotten this so out of hand, the illegals and the government, that it may do harm to people who have earned citizenship and haven't received it yet.
I'm not sure that breaking the law is fare either. I know if I break the law I loose alot. My freedom. Isn't that odd. I could loose my freedom if I break the law and illegal immigrants want to gain freedom for breaking the law.
Everyone is being used and abused in the situation. I have worked hard for increase in wages which I feel I deserve after years of sacrifice. Illegals feel they deserve to come in a walk the picit line and take my job for lower wages. While breaking the law as being illegal.
The reason this is hard for me to answer is because if a illegal came up to me and told me they needed a home and food I would let them in my home and I would feed them. I would try to assist them in any way. I just don't like it taken from me. I'm willing to share. But it doesn't seem to be working in both directions.

Maybe, that issue should be dealt with only after we seal our borders. If say all of a sudden tomorrow we granted amnesty, it would embolden many immigrants to come hoping for another amnesty.
If we seal the borders and work on each immigrant on an individual basis, that could work. They would need to through what everyone else needs to do, they also need to prove they have been productive members of society. Like, have a job, pay taxes, no criminal convictions ect. Also there woule need to be a small window for them to apply. Like say, 90 days, to keep those who do sneak in from taking advantage, or those who have had unsavory pasts from taking their time and staying as long as possible. After the 90 days, anyone who isn't a citizen is automatically deports, end of story.
As long as people who've robbed banks ,killed people and molested kids, and raped women and are still on the loose can get amnesty as well.

Depends. What about people who were brought here as infants?? are you going to expect for them to live in a place they don't even know?? I truly doubt you'd like it if they told you, you have to leave the country and get a job and an education in a foreign country you've never been to and don't have family members there either?? There's a place to draw the line at and deporting everyone or giving amnesty to everyone is not the answer.

No. I am hispanic and totally disagree with it, shouldn't just become American just cuz they're here already. Though most illegal mexicans that I know are good workers, they do mooch off the system, while legit Americans needing assistance, never get it. Also, while having my home built, I used to have to confront illegal, Mexican workers who were scoping out my house and other homes being built in the area.

Screw all people that hinted at saying yes. My family and I moved to the U.S. LEGALLY 10 years ago. We've had to spent an enourmous amount of money and time on becoming citizens, and we will finally be citizens this July.

We should do what Eisenhower did in the 50s. Stick them on a boat and take them to the southern border of Mexico. After Eisenhower deported 10-15% of illegals, the rest of them got the idea and went home.
Once we've sent the illegals home, we should then loosen our immigration laws to make it easier to legally immigrate.
At the same time, we should restrict handouts to American citizens or simply eliminate them completely. Too many illegal immigrants have come to America to receive handouts that we can barely afford for American citizens.
