What is (are) Bush's immigration bill(s) that was failed by the Senate?

I just read the news article from the Yahoo! News, that Bush's immigration bill is rejected by the Senate.

What is Bush's immigration bill about? Please tell me in detail.

Thank you.

Answer:
The bill, known as S1639, would have provided over 20 million illegal immigrants a way to receive amnesty for breaking through our border.

On the one hand, proponents said that enforcing our immigration laws (vis-a-vis the 1986 immigration reform bill, which granted amnesty for a little over 1 million illegal immigrants) would be prohibitively expensive. The easiest path would be to provide a way to grant citizenship to the illegals already living here. They tied border security to this bill, as in a carrot and stick approach.

Those who were against the bill often cited the lack of enforcement of the 1986 bill, which allowed those >1 million illegals to blossom into over 20 million illegals today, due to poor border security, incentives by agribusinesses and others who hire cheap labor, and again are not penalized by law enforcement.
Actually Teddy boys immigration bill :)
Generally, anything Teddy Kennedy supports is a bad thing. You can use this fact to judge just about everything that happens in Congress. If Mr. Kennedy stands up for it, you can bet that it's socialistic or liberal, or just plain stupid! Kennedy was all over this bill. He loved it so that alone makes it suspicious, but read on for more detail.

This poorly written legislation was killed by an almost equal number of Democrats and Republicans. It was truly bipartisan killed, so your comment to slam the Republicans is unwarranted and shows your liberal bias. Generally, the only people that use the "race" label are minorities that have no other argument to push their agenda. I suspect you are one of these people.

The issue with this bill was mainly the amnesty being bestowed upon some 12 million illegals here breaking our laws and refusing to assimilate into our culture. Poll after poll clearly showed that the general public did not want amnesty, yet the politicians continued on with their blind pursuit.

The lawful Americans are fed up with the poor performance of our congressional leadership and their refusal to represent the people that elected them. It took millions of people calling their respective elected representatives to convince them this was something that every poll showed, 82% of the legal population did not want amnesty. They are stupid if they cannot see this simple fact.
