What do you think about Mexico?

I just feel their own lawless government is the reason for their problems and it's so out of control they expect us to fix it. It's real easy to mess things up and then expect someone else to fix it.
Their drug business is one of the main sources of income. If they secured the border we wouldn't be such an open market. Right now....geeze....it's just a major free-for-all. They're dumping their poorest .....criminals are running rampent here with drugs and guns and human smuggling. Which still proves there has to be border security since we couldn't help them with their drug cartels as long as they can just flee here to continue their business. Kind of like spraying your yard for fleas.....they just jump to your neighbors yard and return later. We couldn't "fix" anything without common laws and rules and they don't seem to concerned about that. Then again....why bother having them if there's no enforcement?
It would be much cheaper to build a wall......
Mexico or Mexico's government? A gov't doesn't make a whole country...
Mexico's government has a valid point.
The US hasn't taken an isolationist stance since prior to WWII nor should it ever again in an increasingly globalized society.
One can't just say stop and the problems will stop, the problems have to be addressed properly.
I think I'm sick of hearing about the immigration "problem".... I think I'm sick of listening to people bash the Mexicans in this country - legal or otherwise. I think I'm sick and tired of hearing about "speaking Spanish".
Those who think that the U.S. is going to round up 11 million illegals and deport them are just not thinking....That is twice the population of the country of Denmark. Our government and FBI can't even find those on the FBI 10 Most Wanted List or those on Americas Most Wanted....why do you all think that they could find and deport over 11 MILLION people...
It has a corrupt government. It is wrongly encouraging its citizens to invade another country. Sorry but I have no kind feelings for the country of Mexico.
I also don't have any sympathy for the people. They may be in a bad situation but that does not give them the right to break our laws!
He says he doesn't want a a relatonship of subornation. That is fine, pull all funding we give to them, and all support, and they can be equals. If you don't like what we are doing for you, too bad, don't complain. If someone fed you and helped you everyday and asked for little in return, would you complain about the food? And if you did and they stopped feeding you would you be surprised?
I have been to Mexico a long time ago. I hated it there and the country is too dirty.

I'll agree with him there...but the government in Mexico is a large part of what prevents progress and prosperity in Mexico so I don't expect much to change there any time soon.
Well, it sounds like he is saying Mexico won't be in a 'position of subordination' to the US, instead he wants it to have a blank check on our bank accounts.

That bit about drug use is so overdone. Which comes first, the chicken or the egg? If drugs weren't so available from Mexico, how many fewer users would we have?
And I disagree with the premise that recreational drug use is on a par with cutting off people's heads and dumping them on dance floors.

I love Mexico, the country, its so diverse and beautiful. I think that Calderon wants to blame alot of things on the US, and that he needs to take care of his people before he blames others. I figure that Bush will not be accepted happily in Mexico because the border fence is seen as a direct insult to Mexico and much of south and central America. If we want to all get along, we need to agree that we are equal and worry about how we can fix the situation, not blame others for it.

i think mexico is a totally cool place to go like on vaca or something, like cancun or cozumel. but all those illegal immigrants from there should get the h*** out and quit coming here!!

I think that many of your are confuse about the difference between the illegal Mexicans in the US, and the country of Mexico... some of you come to the border cities(to get drunk and Hi) and think that everywhere else, is like it... Think a little harder....Mexico is more than those cities, is more of what you see on the movies....it´s a pity but it´s the only thing that you want to see..
Most of the illegals are the poorest and uncultured people of our country, no offense, but it´s true, so please do not base your opinions on that stereotype
ok so why do you keep asking about mexico. I'd say its pretty cool. like yeah there are problems there...but look at our government...really now. But yeah i can proudly say I support and respect mexico.
I don't think alot about Mexico, it's not my country. I know by the non-stop waves of Mexicans entering our country to escape poverty, that Mexico's goverment doesn't want to take care of it's poor. I think Mexico is governed by greed and corruption.
