What would your immigration plan be?
Answer:
As for how to fix the problem of illegal immigration, I of course have my ideal “only in a perfect world” solution. That is to completely fence the border and make it impenetrable to those trying to cross illegally, then send ICE out to mass deport anyone who is here illegally.
Of course, that is not realistic no matter how much sense it makes. I have several real options that I see for dealing with illegal immigration.
First Solution:
The Oil for Illegals program. Mexico is the world’s 4th richest oil producing nation, they have oil fields that rival the middle east’s. if the American government refuses to deport those here illegally, and Mexico’s government refuses to stop encouraging people to go to the US illegally and send money home to prop up their economy...that’s fine.
BUT, in return, Mexico must remit 1 barrel of oil each month for every Illegal Immigrant in the US to offset the drain on our economy from the social services, lost taxes, and educational services they receive. Think about that, with an estimated 12-20 million illegals in the US...that’s a lot of oil.
It also helps solve another problem, with the influx of free crude oil from Mexico, we then DRASTICALLY reduce our dependence on Arab Oil and OPEC and we can tell them to go get stuffed, lower prices at the pump to put money back in the pockets of the taxpaying citizens who have been footing the bill for illegals for years, and quit letting Mexico export their problems to us. They will have to start caring for their own citizens and economy.
Second Idea:
I think there needs to be a two-fold approach to ending illegal immigration. First, you remove the carrot on the proverbial stick that is luring them here by the millions. By that I mean require ALL businesses to verify the legal immigration status of every worker employed, and that they want to hire, through a web-based verification database. Those that are applying for a job and the verification comes back saying they are here illegally, ICE will be notified and will take said person into custody, and deport him within 3 days. In addition to deportation, any and all property, vehicles, bank accounts and other assets will be seized and auctioned off to pay fro the cost of deporting them.
Right now, when people get deported, all they have to do is shell out a couple hundred bucks and come right back across and pick up where they left off, if the penalty for being in the US illegally was stricter like that, and they lost all their possessions, they would think twice about coming back across.
Now with regards to the businesses that are screwing the American worker by hiring illegals, I say we hit them the hardest, starting at the TOP and working our way down. If an employer is found to be hiring illegal immigrants, that business will be fined a minimum of $100,000 for every illegal worker they have hired, and in addition, the executive of that company will be imprisoned for one year in federal prison for each illegal worker.
And I am not talking a country club fed prison, I’m talking in there with the hard core criminals. Once this starts happening, companies will think twice.
The second part of that carrot is stop providing the social services incentive for them to come here. Prop 187 should be reinstated across the country. Deny any and all public benefits such as non-emergency medical care, education, welfare, food stamps, etc. to anyone that is here illegally.
Once the lure of a job and free healthcare and education and free handouts is gone there is not much incentive to come.
In addition to all that you completely secure the border. Then re-vamp the damned state department bureaucracy to fix the problem of those wanting to come here legally and do it the right way being made to wait 5 years to get a green card. Have a limited guest worker program, where they are able to come here for a period of 2 to 5 years and work Legally.
Before being approved to be a guest worker, they must have a background check. No felons will be admitted into the guest program, they must demonstrate a proficiency in English, they must have a medical exam and be free of diseases that we have eradicated in our country such as TB. They will, as an approved guest worker, be able to obtain a temporary driver’s license for the specific period they are authorized to be in the country as a guest worker provided they provide proof of vehicle insurance, they must provide on a monthly basis continued proof of insurance on their vehicle.
If they commit a crime, get busted for DUI, let their vehicle insurance lapse and be caught driving, etc.
Their guest worker status will be terminated immediately and they will be deported and barred from ever becoming a guest worker again.
Third:
We can say F*ck that to a guest worker program. Who will pick the lettuce you ask? Well, we have a HUGE population of inmates sitting around in prisons doing absolutely nothing at the average cost of $36,000 per year per inmate.
THAT’S who will pick the lettuce. The American agriculture industry will contract with the state department of corrections to provide labor for their farms. They contract to pay the DOC $2-$3 per hour for each inmate, and then the DOC pays each inmate 70 cents per hour for their labor.
That will help offset the huge expenditures for incarcerating criminals, as well as having prisoners get experience in working everyday and learning responsibility, as well as letting them save money for when their release date comes so they don’t leave prison with only $250 in gate money. Not to mention they now have a skillset with which they can apply to earn a living when they are released instead of having to turn back to criminal activity.
i would set up posts along the border of Mexico and have armed guards in the towers and shoot whoever tries to get past
any employer to hire an illegal would be fined $10,000 per illegal, plus they would also pay the cost to send them back to Mexico (or Guatamala or San Salvador...or wherever), plus an automatic "illegal" fine of $100,000.
Deport Bush/Cheney and company to the Sunni Triangle.
1) Jail the employers of illegal alien criminals.
2) Build the fence.
3) Close the borders
These are part of the bigger picture of ENFORCE OUR CURRENT LAWS! That's all we really need to do. no jobs = no illegals!
Don't reward illegal activity, period. (Deport.)
Enforce laws we already have.
Build a barrier on the border.
Lose the anchor baby law.
Introduce infallible ID cards and prosecute employers who hire illegals.
build the biggest fence from mexico
let the illegal immigrants already here be regular citizens
and if more illegal immigrants came sent them back and get higher border control!!
Enforce current laws and add some strict penalties for employers. And stop classifying it as a crime.
how about a one point plan
ENFORCE EXISTING LAW!
deport all of the ones in the prisons, seal the border and systematically send the rest back . FANTASY LAND WEEEEEEEEEEE
Enforce our current laws that we have and hold the employers responsible for their actions as well as the illegal aliens. Deport them back to their country of origin...it would only take a few REAL crackdowns and most of them would then leave on their own if they know that they can't get jobs here in the USA. Look at what happened at the SWIFT plant and Portland, OR ...the next day there were HUNDREDS of Americans who wanted those jobs that illegal aliens were occupying.
1. Penalties to employers of workers one year and over.
2. Paperwork. How long have you been here, your investment and how have u handled things? Taxes paid, no police actions etc. Family? Your roots here and stability.
3. Register as if it was a voting election. Go to a polling place, register first and fill out the computer questions to maybe help with the back log of paperwork. No exceptions policy. Extensions available like tax forms. HOLD a general "amnesty" if u will election. One time shot. Then it's no deals made.
4. Speak English. Why our children now are required to learn Spanish in public school is beyond me.
5. Take the immigrants class as do others. Complete it.
6. Fines to those proven to have been in violation knowing and willing defied the laws.
7. Borders? Fences never keep people out they build bigger ladders.
8. Accountability. States and counties all on the same page. Police, Sheriff everyone ONE language as to how this works.
Sending anyone back and making a payment of $5,000 is ridiculous. Who was to get that money any way? You can not send them all packing? Amnesty has it's benefits. Fix the gosh darn problem after 20 plus yrs come on? Gimme a break!
*** The existing laws obviously do not work. They are not enforced and among other problems in our society they were swept under the rug.
The ones on the books now are just fine. I would just beef up border patrols and enforce punishment on employers that hire these criminals.
Move the Panama Canal north to our border, fill it with the extra Alligators from new Orleans, ban Budweiser Beer and section 8 housing..bingo all gone.
registered work programs. after x amount of time and fees. they would get residency then after more time and fees. citizenship. that way the labor jobs would still be worked and the prices of things we take for granted wouldn't skyrocket. you think gas is bad wait till you have to pay $15 for fruits and vegetables cuz no one is left to cultivate them. also maybe offer a military enlistment for x amount of time in exchange for citizenship. since many born citizens are willing to run their mouths but wont serve their country. PANZYS! that way there is a control on who is coming in to the country. most workers after working will go back home. others that stay should be given the chance to attain legal residency if they are paying taxes.
1. secure our borders
2. keep the legal immigration system the same but make it based on skills not family connections
3. make sure all the immigrants learn english
4. make english the national language
5. deport all the illegals currently in the country.
There are bigger fish to fry.
