Let me tell you the truth about LEGAL immigrants?
Answer:
The laws need changing. The US policy needs looking at. We have a decision to make: Either we encourage immigration, or we ban it. Nothing will be gained by trying to make the attaining of citizenship so mired in bureaucracy that you have to have a ton of money and 5 years of leisure time on your hands to go through the process.
We have to decide whether we want to do this like the old USSR, where a crushing bureaucracy is factored into the game to reduce the number involved through sheer attrition, or if we want to tackle this situation on the high ground of which America is capable.
Oh well.
You're very right.
In fact, our great grandparents never would have been let in under current restrictions. Passports weren't even needed for entry to the US until 1918.
Very true. You also forgot to mention star atheletes. These people get automatic status by recuriters. Its all about the MONEY!
You can also get and sponsor from any National Company.
You can also enter under tourist visa and work for the school district as a teacher.
Don't be so exclusive.
Ta-da.
As for the other end of your equation, those who do not immigrate here legally are ILLEGAL.
End of story.
Looks to me like you just stated several ways to legally immigrate to the USA. Do it legally or be ready for deportation.
Nice question. You refuted yourself.
Don't defend illegal immigration by inventing a straw man.
Unfortunately you are right... and for those of us that are born citizens of any race the same applies. Without money it is hard to do anything. what a sad place to live.....
My goodness you have no idea what your talking about!
:), I hadn't thought of the star athletes category! I think star athletes fall into that rich category. The teams sponsor them, they get legal residency, some become citizens, and the government gets the tax dollars on their multi-million dollar salaries. I actually think that star athlete immigrants are really helping the U.S., monetarily and in the entertainment area.
Well if theres no way to be legal DONT COME HERE!
So, then just STAY HOME.
It's our country. We decide who comes here.
Angela R made a point I'd forgotten about.Thumbs up girl! Yes it's about money and what you can offer. Not ordinary people.
Which just underscore the FACT that we need to DO something about Immigration. Both Legal and Illegal.
But NOT the current Amnesty legislation.
Obviously, we need to make it easier for those who truly want to be U.S. citizens to achieve their goals in a controlled and legal manner.
We also need to send those who come here and protest our laws and culture back home. THEY don't want anything but the opportunity to prosper. - Not wrong in itself, but if they don't like it here they should be at home protesting there. They must eliminate corruption and elitism in their own societies.
They must create a Free Enterprise system, and enjoy their families, culture and language as well as prosper at home.
A lot of people immigrate to the USA through employment. There are shortages in many skilled, and educated professions. Doctors, engineers, scientists, financial advisors, nurses etc come through employment sponsorship.
You're right. Let us spread the wealth.
Clearly you do not know about American history!!
People apply to become citizens and are approved almost everyday!! Process takes longer now, because there are more immigrants coming to this country now than before!
You don't need to have family or be rich to become a citizen, you need to go through the process and wait!!
But there is! A simple way to get a visa is to be a professional so education is the key. The fact that one can get government subsidized education in most other countries should make this a no-brainer but then it is the educated that fare the best in those countries so most are happy there and aren't looking to migrate.
Mu husband came to the USA 35 years ago.He left a communist country and had to report himself to the Italian police, which he immediatly did. He lived in a refugee camp for more than one year while a complete background check was done through Interpol. He was a skilled worker and so many countries wanted him to come. He only by chance picked the USA.He was given a roompaid for by sponsers for only two weeks in a run down area in New York City. He worked as soon as his feet hit US soil.No freebies and went to night school to learn English. He knew no one in the states and was totally on his own.I hate cry babies!!
When money talks, people with silver spoons in their mouths listen..sad, I know.
omg you are so right
