How does the Hispanic media report the immigration debate?

Answer:
I'll tell you how they do it for real. This is 100% true. I've watched channels 34, 52, and 22 (all Spanish speaking channels) here in the LA area and how they report illegal immigrant news. First off, most of the newscasters, especially in channel 52 and 22 refer to illegals simply as immigrants (which gives it a more positive outlook). I also notice they make people out like the minutemen, Bush, etc as "bad" people and show more positive reactions for pro-illegals. They do once in a while show anti-illegal viewpoints, but they are quickly taken off and/or argued against quickly with no chance of countering those arguments... They do not condone or support violence..so how does the Spanish speaking media treat immigration? Favorable to the pro-illegal for sure and the number one reason is simple. Ratings and money...simple as that. If there were no money in it, they wouldn't even report it.
Undocumented immigrates good, gringo bad
Ok, before a bunch of people that are clueless jump in here, let me say: it depends what channel you are listening to. There is a huge variety of stations, and, "world news" in Spanish is typically out of Argentina or somewhere in South America, so, it really is presented very much impartially by them (if acknowledged at all).

However, there are newspapers here that are largely run by Mexican citizens and they are very one-sided about the issue. Obviously. Their president has been giving out "sets" for people that want to come illegally to the United States. In the sets, there are the items that will be needed to cross illegally. There is a very strong one-sided influence to the newspapers.
they tell them white people are all racist pigs for not supporting the illegals in their search for the better life and food for their starving babies. and they encourage them to join groups like La Raza and MEChA to help kill the white devils.
Univision and telemundo are repeaters... they just repeat what Fox and CNN invent.
Does it really make a difference what they say our think it doesn't change the out come the amnesty bill failed. By the will of 200+ million USA citizens.enforcement of our laws by the states as our inept Gov is worried about there sleep in as there being swept out of office.Self deport an come back legally or be deported on not allowed back , like coming here it's your choice.
Outside of the United States? Other than Mexico, it's hardly ever mentioned. They couldn't care less. It's not their problem. They have more important things to talk about.

They don't think it's a vital issue as they do here in the US.

The world doesn't revolve around the United States, you know?
.
They probably thinks we are heartless scum that went back on Jorge Bush's promise.

They don't understand our system. In the past, everytime Jorge promised that he would work to get something accomplished, the # of illegals crossing the border would increase. They assumed that when Jorge said something, it was now law.
"Zoo Keeper"-- Really, is that what you think they say about white people (if they say anything at all about white people)? Let me refresh your little brain, weren't the people in the Senate who were for the bill, weren't they mostly white? So how could you say that.

As for the question, It's good what they are doing.
No I do not witness Spanish media, but I have a family member and friends that do. They told me this a long time ago that the media plays it out like it is a good thing to do. A lot of people who come here illegally are practically heroes to their family members. The media also is all about NOT learning English. The reason? So that the immigrants don't find out the truth about what they are really doing until after they do it. By then, it is too late because they are here.
I watch Univision and Telemundo, both have news in spanish.

and to tell you the truth, the immigration issue is not talked about that much, they have news casts, so they have to report what is going on in the rest of the world.

They might talk about it more if some major updates come up, but it's not like they spend the whole hour criticizing Bush, most actually don't.

I know Univision has "Primer Impacto" which is a news program, and they have "Su Cita Con Imigracion" (Your appointment with Immigration) which basically tells the story of an immigrant that is having a tough time, and they give that person advice on what to do.

other than that, it's regular news.
