USCIS has approved my I-130 now what?
Answer:
sorry Milwaukee. SB is correct. It depends on whether stepmom is a citizen. The instructions she receives from the National Visa Center may or may not contain the affidavit of support etc. That varies. So just follow the instructions you receive.
The case will be forwarded to the NVC right now only if there is a visa number available (which is only true if you are a US citizen). Fill out the forms, if any, and submit them. The case will then be forwarded to the consulate which will issue packet 3.5. Your stepson will have to undergo a physical and submit fees and forms. See link to immigrant visa process in Haiti.
If you are a US citizen, there is a visa immediately available. That means the approved petition will go to the national visa center in Portsmouth NH. They will send you some instructions. After you respond, the package will be forwarded to the consulate and the consulate will contact your stepson for an interview.
If you are not a citizen, then there is no visa available yet, so the wait will be longer.
The USCIS will forward the approved I-130 to the National Visa Center NVC) in New Hampshire. Cal 603-334-0700 and you can punch in the USCIS receipt for updates. It does take several weeks for them to enter the info. The NVC will send you the fee bill and affidavit of support bill. The Immigrant Visa case number will be on the fee bills. Once you send the fees in the NVC will issue a "packet 3" with forms you will need to complete and documents to obtain. The completed forms are sent to the NVC for review. Once ok, they forward the case to the consulate where your step-son will be scheduled for an interview. it can take a few months to get an interview date. Since he's a minor, I am not sure who can attend with him. The consulate will send instructions on medical exam and other documents to bring to the interview. Once interview is approved, an immigrant visa will be issued and he has 6 months to enter the U.S. When he enters, he'll give a packet to the immigration officer and they will send it off so his green card can be created and mailed. good luck to you.
I'm not sure what SB is talking about, but Kitty is correct. You will receive an email with instructions for the next step. There is a lot more involved then the first part, which you completed.
You will have to fill out an affidavit of support, Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, he will need to know what vaccinations he's received (and may be required to get additional ones), he has to receive a full medical check-up and provide additional photos.
After you have collected all of the information, you will have to make an appointment with the US Embassy. There maybe a waiting period of up to 6 weeks depending how how may people are applying at the time. Once he recieves his visa he has to arrive within 6 months.
Here is a link to the packet for the US Embassy in Seoul, your packet may be different though:
