Should I have to learn another language to work anywhere in the U.S.A. ,even if I am American?

America is filled with Spanish speaking people now its a must.. things change my friend. It would be good for you to pick up a second language anyway.
A second language should not be a requirement but it would be beneficial. You should look into doing other things...like prison guard.

wow! that just sucks, i didnt think it has come to the point in which we are being denied employment based on the fact that the overwhelming number of immigrants, legal and illegal, coming to America will not learn english so that we now must bend to their will and learn spanish or suffer.
anywhere else in the world, a immigrant or visitor would be expected to learn the language, nope not here in America. We have no culture or values, just come here and rape us for our economy and provide nothing for the society.

This is why things illegal aliens are changing our way of life, specially in the rural areas that it shouldn't be. In a job that have connections with foreign investors or companies, well maybe but in the farms of the USA, it's incredible that this is happening. We have to stop this illegal invasion or it going to get worse. AND..... in your case it have nothing to do with globalize.
You have a right to work in your own language these people are breaking the law.

I am Greek, and I speak 3 more languages, which are necessary for me to get a job in Greece. Knowing foreign languages is general culture ad education, and it helps you understand your own language deeper. Of course, I am a scientist, knowledge of foregn languages is not necessary for farming! But since in the US you base your economy on cheap spanish-speaking labour, it is understandable that employers may need someone who can communicate with the rest of the workers. In Greece we base a lot of our economy on Albanian cheap labor, but Albanians learn greek so well that it's amazing!
Anyway, since it was Christopher Columbus who discovered America and Spanish was one of the main languages from the beginning, and since the english language was chosen arbitrarily at some point in history, while many languages were spoken because america is based on people from many backgrounds, I think it is legit that Spanish is an important language there. Otherwise, why shouldn't you speak Cherokee or wahtever language the native Americans have? You are an immigrant too, my friend!
GOOD POINT !!. I'm finding the same problem.... The jobs I'm qualified to do are advertised "Bi-lingual", but I only speak English.

don't feel like the Lone Ranger here-- this is something that is happening all over--- take the situation in South Texas right now---employers advertising for individuals to work ADVERTISE bi-lingual "helpful" and then when you go into the interview they tell you outright that it is a REQUIREMENT -- so they are not being truthful and it is VERY COVERT THING THAT IS GOING ON HERE --- and as it goes in Texas (because of the proximity TO Mexico---and given the rate at which the Mexican flow is coming in) --- SO goes the nation in a matter of a couple of years !!!
I might add here just for the sake of adding fuel to the fire ----not a lot of people know this because it is not being covered by ANY media at all--- but just a couple of weeks ago --- the Federal government and the State of Texas entered into an agreement with over 100 Mexican trucking companies in a move that releases them from even having to Stop at the Border Crossings any more !!!!! Now what do YOU think they are going to be carrying in those trucks besides the manufactured goods being made by Mexican laborers IN Mexico that just two years ago were being made here in the USA ??? Maybe some passengers ?? Maybe some substances ?? Maybe some ----- Saudi's ???
And the Feds are up in DC acting like they are concerned about the sovereignty of this nation--- makes me want to PUKE !!!!!
Oh my, you are one of those "non-existant " Americans that does jobs that Americans supposedly do not want to do. Well, from what I know almost every job that doesn't require a college degree, is converting over to bilingual-Spanish positions. Join an anti-illegal organization, fight for your right to speak your native language in order to support yourself.

I have no problems with learning another language, I am fluent in another language so I know it helps you out in many ways. But it should NOT be a requirement to get a job in the US. Guess it never occured to your interviewer that the other farm hands learn English huh?????
Are you sure that it was a requirement? I would undertsand if another person applied for the same position, same experience and billingual. It gives you an advantage to know more languages.
i'm sick of seeing bilingual required it is rediculous the only reason it is even allowed is because america doesn't have a national language we need to set one stop all production of any signs or labels or anything in spanish and keep american ways alive and stop turning this country into Mexico. If we stay on this path this country will suck just as much as Mexico and then all the other races will be getting out of America and heading back to europe kind of ironic but thats what it will come to
