Is this the framework for the new immigration bill proposal?

It sounds unworkable, to me. What do you think?

Answer:
No, I don't think that is the answer as stated in last paragraph--many will just go underground and more will come.

What we need is control, -clean -controllable and orderly growth is possible. And causes less problems. Control seems to be "OR " the "lack" of it seems to be one of the biggest problem. And this doesn't really face this issue.

How do we get that here? Tough policies that are enforced to the max (on all-people- companies-border control , schools, etc).

On those who are here already we need to look at this in a realistic way. How long have they been here? What have they done while here? What hardships will they face (I mean tough ones-not emotional)?

Clean, orderly, tight control should be number one priority in new bills------I don't see that here. What "tight" control in this bill-I don't see it. Just a band-aid .
It's complicated. In reality, we can't enforce our comparatively simple immigration laws, what makes you think they could enforce these proposed new rules? It's a bunch of crap.
btw, that picture of Ted Kennedy was disturbing.death incarnate?
THEY'LL GET SOMETHING DONE.JUST WATCH AND SEE.TOO MUCH IS RIDING ON IT!
Unlawful Entry is a CRIME. Zero tolerance for immigration-law violators! No amnesty, no "stealth-amnesty." No "change of status," marriage fraud, "exceptional leave to remain," no "Temporary Protected Status." If you break the law, depart or be deported. Illegal aliens kill more US citizens each year than the war in Iraq has killed in four years. Apologists for illegal immigration like to paint it as a victimless crime. But in fact, illegal immigration causes substantial harm to American citizens and legal immigrants, particularly those in the most vulnerable sectors of our population--the poor, minorities, and children. Additionally, job competition by waves of illegal immigrants willing to work at substandard wages and working conditions depresses the wages of American workers, hitting hardest at minority workers and those without high school degrees. Illegal immigration also contributes to the dramatic population growth overwhelming communities across America--crowding school classrooms, consuming already limited affordable housing, and straining precious natural resources like water, energy, and forestland. Taxpayers are being forced to pay for the free health care, education, and other welfare programs being given to illegal aliens; Those tax dollars could be given back to U.S. taxpayers or used to keep our borders secure; They may be here illegally, but they sure know how to "work the system" to collect "free" medical care, "free" education, "free" food, Section 8 housing vouchers and other housing assistance, and hundreds of other social services. It costs citizens additional hundreds of billions of tax dollars at every level: local, state, and federal. It gobbles up billions of our charitable contributions. And much of that money ends up siphoned out of our economy and into offshore accounts. Illegal aliens, over half of whom work "under the table" with neither job nor income reported (nor taxed), are not counted as employed or unemployed. But some of those day-labor and off-the-books "job-lets" would be "real" jobs - available to American citizen job-seekers - if employment regulations were enforced. Illegal aliens can get away with tax evasion, et al., which citizens cannot. In short, we have too many workforce entrants and too few jobs created. The ratio works out to roughly 7-10 workforce entrants per job created. If all illegal aliens depart or are deported, all legal immigration halted, and all temporary employment visas abolished, we still have a problem with more US-born workforce entrants than new jobs created. Illegal immigration damages our country and our citizens every day at every level. And not even the attacks of 2/26 and 9/11 have awakened many Americans to the vast dangers illegal immigration poses to our selves, our families, our communities, our society, our values, our principles, our civilization. Zero Tolerance for Immigration-Law Violators! We must remember the lessons of 2/26, 9/11, and the costs we bear every single day. God Bless the U S A !
This sucks! What about all of us spouses of permanent resident who had and are still waiting for far away preferences? Don't get me wrong, i am glad for all those undocumented immigrants but shouldn't the clause include something about the lawful permanent resident's immediate family as well? I mean common! Who in their right mind want to live 5 years or more away from their newlywed spouse? You might as well not get married! This sucks! and no it won't do!
I did not read your link.. however I did watch the news this morning, what do you think is workable.. tracking down and deporting 12 million people.. you knew that was never going to happen, that is the whole problem with all of you screaming about land mines, moats with alligators, and shooting people, not one time was a realistic solution proposed. Not everyone thinks like you and the real thinkers are able to come up with a reasonable compromise. Did you really think the US corporations were going to be held accountable for their mistakes in hiring? Or did you think the ones that crossed illegally should take 100% of the blame? Secure the borders first and then fix the mess WE created, sounds workable to me.
There are still major gaps in it that haven't even been addressed.
What about those who do not pay the fee for the Z visa, what happens to them? They will still be living in the country illegally.
Why do they have eight years to return to their home country to get legal? This should be done alot sooner than that.
No mention of making them pay back taxes. No mention of sucking the government benefits dry.
Too many loopholes.
I'm not sure if it's going to get passed in the House.
What isn't workable about this bill? Its very similar to the one that was discussed previously, however they have shifted the preference from family members to skilled workers.

And the legalization provisions of the bill dont even go into effect until the enforcement provision are up and running. So what is everyone complaining about? Congress will never pass a bill to deport all of the illegals just as they will never pass one that just grants amnesty. It sounds like a reasonable compromise to me.
