British Residents !?

what are the requirements to be a british resident , im currently living in in france and i have a british passport which has stated that i am a british citizen ?

Answer:
In Italian, legally talking, there's difference between the two words. I guess it's the same in English...
Resident means that you live in that place for most of the year, and you have not political rights; citizen means that you have all civil and political rights of that country.
Citizenship can't be lost easily; if you've obtained citizenship in a country you don't loose it unless you commit really bad crimes.
If you have a British passport you should have English citizenship.
