Immigration: America in 50 years...?
My Opinion:
Look at the U.S. Why are we so fortunate? Because our citizens have collectively worked to create a thriving, healthy society and have produced much to advance ourselves in technology, law, medicine, finance, etc.
Look at Mexico. Why is it so screwed up? Because Mexicans collectively did not take care of their own society. They did not work to rise up and succeed against government which did not work as our ancestors did. They have done nothing to advance themselves technologically as a society. They have done nothing to help create a better society for themselves and their children in Mexico.
AND WE ARE TO JUST LET THESE PEOPLE COME HERE TO CONSUME ALL THAT OUR ANCESTORS CREATED FOR US AND THAT WE WORK TO MAINTAIN??
HELL NO THEY ALREADY SCREWED THEIR COUNTRY UP!

In NC we already have some school districts that have 60% of children that cannot speak English. I feel like we have to look out for our citizens first then our legal immigrants then deal with our illegals. My husband immigrated from South Africa and did it the legal way, it took him 11 years to get his citizenship and cost him thousands of dollars.

Some validity, sure, but remember also that America was blessed with more abundant natural resources than virtually any nation on earth. It was almost impossible NOT to be profitable. And much of that work done by our forefathers that you mentioned was done by immigrants from screwed up countries.
Maybe the US should do more to help Mexico become a more attractive country to live in, this would have more of a positive effect on the societies of both nations. The US has the resources, why not use them.
I believe you do not have the true facts of what your ancestors did ,After they got off the boat from the old country. they came to the southwest and stole half of Mexico, Look at the KIA's in Irag how come there is so many Hispanic names ,as are other immigrants, Why is your name not on that list, or are you one of those do as I say ,not as I do Americans.
your right. America will be a broken country in 50 years. i see it with in 10 years. we need to demand they enforce our current laws on illegal immigration.
Comparing Latin America and The United States is like comparing apples to oranges. The people who colonized this land (after killing millions of native americans) did so with freedom in mind, with the idea that they were escaping persecution and wanted better for themselves. Latin America was colonized by greedy, mostly uneducated Spaniards whose sole reasons for coming to the land were riches, fame and "to spread the word of the Lord". The only spaniards that did that were the priests and monks that made the journey also.
The US was founded on a religion that encouraged its constituents to read the bible and interpret it, the catholics that colonized Latin America discouraged this, gave mass in Latin and the majority of its constituents could not understand the mass and were scared to challenge what was being presented. I believe this has a great deal to do with the inequality in libraries in Latin America and the United States. As much as we hate that Castro is a dictator...Cuba has a 98% literacy rate and students throughout Latin America used to send their old books to Cuba and Cuba would send them new ones, so at least the education is high...but I'm not saying he's a great man.
Latin America was not founded on freedom, but some of the countries are making advances. When we think that the liberation of Latin America from the Spanish came nearly 100 years after our independence in the US, and we think of the differences between our colonization and theirs, we need to understand that change takes time. To say that they have done nothing to advance themselves is an outright falsehood.
Get used-to diversity, sir, because in 50 years, no one culture will be a majority in the United States, not even the Latinos that you seem to be so angry at.
