Undocumented Immigratns or "Illegal Aliens"?

I Would Like To Know, Why Do People Use The Words Or Phrase "Illegal Aliens" When Refering To Immigration Related Conversations?

I, Personally, Don't Believe That Any Person On This Earth Is "Illegal", But Rather Their Actions Are Illegal. As Far The Word "Alien" Goes, I'm Sure People Of The Same Country Aren't Going Around Calling Others Legal "Aliens".

I Want Serious Answers That Relate To My Question. I Am Not Interested On What Side Of The Issue You Are On. I WILL Report Answers That Are Not Of My Question. Also, I WILL Reward The Best Answer.

Answer:
The word "alien" is used to distinguish between someone who is a citizen of a country and someone who is not a citizen.

A citizen of another country here in the US temporarily on a work visa would be considered a legal alien. Someone living here permanently would be considered a resident alien (I think).

So when I say "illegal alien" that means someone who is in the US, is not a citizen and does not legally have the right to be in the US. It is actually a pretty concise way of saying something which can get pretty long.
I dont call them illegal aliens.i think its dumb...they are people from another place...thats all. Everyone should be free to go where they want intstead of having to go through all that bull.
Prostitute or Escort , just because you sugarcoat what you
call something, doesn't really change it.
They are in the United States illegally. What part of that do you not understand?
It is easier to hurl insults and de-humanize people who are labeled as "illegal," as opposed to "Entry Without Inspection," or "Without Papers."

Without papers...Hmmm, isn't that why some Italians were called "W.O.Ps?"
Because that's what my generation called people who came into the country illegally, before political correctness started to be demanded; it was particularly in contrast to legal aliens, who came here with permission. (I'm not knocking those people by the way - simply telling you the origin of the terms).

I don't really think the words matter; if you can't treat someone with dignity, then you can call them all the nice things in the world, and it won't mean a thing. It's actions, not words, that matter.
Isn't being undocumented in the U.S. against the law, thus "illegal". An alien is a person who owes political allegiance to another country or government and not a native or naturalized citizen of the land where they are found. Put them together, and "illegal alien" seems to fit.
Whenever I hear the word alien, I get an image in my head of a space creature. The people who call them illegal aliens probably secretly hope they're offending the person. Illegal immigrant sounds better in my opinion. It's like you say, we don't call each other legal aliens. We're humans not space creatures.
Yeah, whatever.
We all know they are illegal.
You really make sense to me, and are a really down to earth person, congrats for your comment, I am undocumented myself, thanks.
Alien : al·ien /ˈeɪlyən, ˈeɪliən/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[eyl-yuhn, ey-lee-uhn] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. a resident born in or belonging to another country who has not acquired citizenship by naturalization (distinguished from citizen).
2. a foreigner.

Illegal: do we really need to go over this one?
They are aliens in this country and they have come here illegally so they are illegal aliens. Or should we refer to them as aliens who came into this country illegally, flaunted our laws, stole our taxes, hurt those trying to come legally, and stole our jobs.

Maybe you're right, the longer name that I just said does describe them better.
I believe you are labeled "illegal" when you are doing something against the law and "alien" because you are not originally from a certain place. Thus making you (not personally) an illegal alien.
They are not considered "undocumented", because they most likely have fake documents. They are "illegal", because they are here unlawfully... & they are aliens, because they are not from here... duhhh!
They are here illegally and are alien to the U.S. What more do you need.
The Libs call them "undocumented" aliens, but we all know they are illegal alien criminals.
alien by the govt means non native birth they are illegally here so the shoe fits i guess
