Do you believe immigrants should be allowed into Britain if they do not agree to live a British lifestyle?
I just dont think its right that if we moved to a different ethnic country and built thousands of churches or whatever, we'd get quite as warm as welcome.

If you want to go and live in a different country its only fair that you live by their laws and their rules, If i went to live in Spain i would not expect them to change their rules just for me, so why do a lot of foreigners expect us to change our ways, we did not invite them here, and if they don't like the way we live, then they are free to leave. Unfortunately its the interfering politically correct @rse's and government seeking votes who are causing this counties problem, not the ordinary man in the street, or even the asylum seekers, who's probably just happy to be here. But once you get theses PC shouting that we must adopt another way of live to accommodate these poor hard done by soles, then the problems start. As you say if we all went to live in a Muslim country and started building Churches and demanding the local council to print letter in English, then i think we soon find we'd out stayed our welcome !

The answer to this one is easy and in no way racist, living here means you want and accept our culture, if you can't live with it out you go.

Cliff, I have met a few poles and they ALL spend the money they earn in Poland! They contribute very little to the UK economy yet we are running around printing newspapers and putting up roadsigns for them

i think people arriving from other countries should agree to live as we do, also and more importantly they should have a verified job to go to instead of looking for one when they arrive.

Most of the people in Britain are decendents of "immigrant" invaders. And a lot of British lifestyle was imported from those foreign nations where those modern immigrants came from.
You should consider what your British lifestyle would be like without tea or spices.

No, I do not. I have been fortunate to have travelled all over the world and have lived in many different countries. We were made very aware that we had to abide by that country's laws, rules and regulations. Which, by the way we were very happy to do. We never had, or caused any problems in whatever country we lived in. Un-like what you are suggesting is happening in this country today.
Difficult to say, but I think they should be chucked out if they commit a crime, especially those that are asylum seekers. Britain should not be a haven for the worlds criminals. They should respect their hosts beliefs and abide by their laws.

Britons living abroad live in clusters and do their own thing. Every member of the human race does the same. What is the British way of life you are on about. Do you seriously expect an Indian family to suddenly start eating fish and chips? The idea is absurd. Do we think there is something special about what we do that it requires copying? No one and that is absolutely no one changes their style because they are in a different country. Americans will sit in Starbucks and drink weak coffee all day.
By your model we should close down all the Aussie bars and Starbucks and get them to drink tea. An Aussie church is actually the Walkabout Pub of which there are many. It is actually called hospitality if you have several people from a different group in who want to go to the Synagogue rather than the Church of England. So they build their own Synagogues and attend them when they like. Or we should shut them down too?
And why exactly anyone should be bothered if people go peacefully about their own business defeats me. And we go round blowing up their countries where do we expect them to live.

Trying to enforce or even test "agreement with the British lifestyle" is difficult, however, since it's very broad and ambiguous.
I'm sure the lifestyle of a barrister in London is going to be different from a fisherman in Wales or farmer in Cork. So, which lifestyle do they have to agree with?

I don't think that that people relate to the fact that Britain's have over many century's "moved" to many countries and have taken over (the Britsh Empire for example).
The problem that Britain currently has is that the media have exaggerated this issue. Whilst the media leads many people to believe that foreign immigrants are a drain on the system, they are in fact quite the opposite. The NHS for example have employed many workers, from Doctors to cleaners, which from first hand experience work longer and hard than their British counterpart. It is not fair that the few immigrants that do abuse the system cause such an ill feeling to this minority.
I do however agree to a policy that many countries employ like Australia and USA, to test potential immigrants with national knowledge and skills. I do also feel that British citizens shold speak English as this is would greatly increase intergration between all that live in this fine country.
you have a great point in that when we go to another culture we should have some respect for those people. but when others come to our home we should be big enough to accept their differences and take part of the work of finding common ground. we can learn a lot by stretching our minds.

I think they should have to learn English so they can cope at school and work.I think that they should treat people outside their own ethnic/religous groups with respect.For example I think it's wrong for Muslim taxi drivers to refuse to take dogs-we are a nation of dog lovers.

One assumes that immigrants arrive in Britain seeking a better lifestyle for themselves and their families, and it would seem fairly obvious to me that unless they adopted the British way of life as their own, then that way of life would cease to exist.
Now before any of the lunatic, left wing, suppressors of freedom of thought and speech, unless of course it's their own right to the same freedoms that is being threatened, label me a racist, or start burbling on about respecting other cultures; allow me point out that these immigrants are here because the lifestyle they seek is unavailable within their own countries of origin and culture.
So yes, they must conform to our way of life or leave. They should not be allowed to take advantage of our way of life and yet refuse to become part of it.
Yup of course, this is why there is so much antagonism in the country because they don't and to insist that some of them have their own form of law in this country is ridiculous.
